First proper tracking figures are in for "Dark Phoenix," the final entry in Fox's run of major "X-Men" films, and the numbers are looking a little soft.

THR reports that estimates for the film's domestic opening weekend have it debuting in the $50 million range – lower than other recent entries in the X-Men universe. "X-Men: Days of Future Past" opened to $90.8 million in its first three-day weekend, while the previous film "X-Men: Apocalypse" garnered $65.7 million in the same period.

Both those films, however, had the benefit of opening on a holiday weekend, something 'Phoenix' does not have. Early estimates are also likely to increase as Fox/Disney makes a final marketing push. Even so, the film is hovering near the franchise's lowest opening to date – 2013's "The Wolverine" with $53.1 million.

Longtime franchise writer and producer Simon Kinberg makes his directorial debut with the film which opens June 7th.
