Kylie Jenner garnered lots of attention Monday by sharing her anguish over realizing that she regularly flew on the same helicopter Kobe Bryant had chartered when he, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, and seven others were killed in a crash near her Calabasas home Sunday.
The 22-year-old makeup mogul and reality TV star also revealed in an Instagram story that she knew Bryant's pilot, Ara Zobayan, had previously flown with him and remembered him to be "such a nice man."
What Jenner didn't mention in her post, asking for "prayers for the families," is that she took her niece 3-year-old Dream on on one of those helicopter rides.
Reports show that Jenner took Dream for her "first helicopter ride" in the fatal Sikorsky S-76B craft for her birthday in November, Us Weekly said.
One notable person, Dream's famously outspoken mother Blac Chyna, was not happy to hear about the little girl's helicopter ride. Chyna, who was once engaged to Kylie Jenner's half-brother Rob Kardashian, had her lawyer issue a statement, saying her client had never given permission for Dream to go on the flight.
"Chyna has become aware that Kylie Jenner is using the tragic deaths of Kobe Bryant, his beautiful daughter, and seven other precious souls to profess her 'distress' that she and Dream had ridden on the same helicopter with the same pilot prior to Sunday's horrific crash," attorney Lynne Ciana wrote in a statement to Us Weekly.
"What Kylie failed to disclose was that Chyna never gave Kylie permission to take her precious daughter, Dream, on a helicopter ride and that Chyna never would have given Kylie that permission," the statement read. "No parents should find out after the fact that their child has participated in a dangerous activity without their permission."
In November, the fan page for Rob Kardashian posted photos of Dream getting ready to ride on the helicopter and then buckling into a seat. "You are a gift," Kylie Jenner captioned a picture of the birthday girl smiling in front of the chopper. Kylie Jenner's equally self-promoting sister Kim Kardashian also posted Instagram Story photos of the troll-themed birthday party they threw for Dream, Us Weekly reported.
Chyna's statement didn't mention the fact that Jenner's used her Instagram story post to both express grief for Bryant and the others and then to tout the launch of her latest makeup collection, the Stormi X Kylie Cosmetics collection, named for her 2-year-old daughter Stormi.
It wouldn't be surprising to see Chyna now use Dream's helicopter ride as ammunition in her ongoing custody battle with Rob Kardashian — to allege that he and Kylie Jenner, and not her, are the real "danger" to the little girl's health and well-being.
Kardashian, 32, and Chyna, 31, are engaged in pretty contentious efforts to co-parent Dream. Just a few weeks ago, Kardashian filed court documents alleging that Chyna, 31, is the "danger." He claimed that Chyna, a model, ex-stripper and self-styled makeup entrepreneur, parties hard with strangers while Dream is present. She also is often drunk, uses cocaine, often makes violent threats to people and fails to properly look after their daughter's hygiene, the documents allege.
Us Weekly reported that Kardashian asked the court to order Chyna to undergo drug and alcohol testing. However the judge denied that request and instead ordered the former couple to attend mediation on Feb. 10 to see if they can work out their disputes over custody and visitation.
Chyna and Rob went public with their relationship in January 2016 and were engaged from April to December 2016. But the relationship was always volatile, both during and after the breakup. In July 2017, Karsdashian went on Instagram to accuse Chyna of infidelity and to post explicit photos of her. He later deleted the posts.
In February 2019, the former couple signed a signed a post-judgment child support modification order, releasing Rob from child support payments to Chyna, Us Weekly said.
