Really?I thought she was real but that was some trickery from the house or the man disguised as Hazel trying to make her kill.

Nah, I thought Hazel was real..... I think that particular last scene was just imagined; I don't think Hazel actually came over to visit. My interpretation was that m Hazel was somebody she trusted and took guidance from, so Lucy's mind used Hazel as a figure of manipulation.

well not particularly him but the two blacks that came to the town 

did the black woman really curse him? Was she really a witch?

That's a good question. I think she was def a witch. Voodoo and magic were very prominent in those times and had its roots in slavery. The black woman actually reminds me of Marie Laveau a bit. Quiet, pretty and powerful. You can tell that beyond being a witch, she was skilled in other ways like being a good embroiderer, ect. The priest was not only cursed by her but I think he cursed himself too for the way he turned on them when he knew deep down they were innocent. He brought about his own hell. Like karma. That's my take on it.
