ETA: It got better, but they still need to lose the laugh track if possible. Some of the scenes with the assistant needed the laugh track, though. I like that her music is on this. One of my issues with The Game is they used music from everyone BUT Brandy.

Just finished watching! I like the sets, the styling, and it looks like there's good chemistry as far as group dynamics go. That being said, the show is new and def has potential to grow.
It's only the first episode. People should give it time. It will get a second season which will give the actors room to grow in their roles and more characters to be introduced. My only criticism is that I wish it weren't on BET lol
As with any new TV show, the 1st episode is giving you the back story, the introduction. The character development happens over time and most people understand that. I'm a huge Brandy fan and I absolutely could NOT watch her in The Game. The show was just terrible. This one will keep my interest because I like the theme of her "getting her swang on". Like somebody said, it's "cute".

Well you should never expect a lot from a pilot. You're getting a sense of who they are and what they stand for and where they come from. But I did like it though.

I watched it again. And I liked it more the 2nd go. Should get better. I feel like her friend and they gay character could've had a better casting. Would've been good to have one or two more characters that are well known.

I watched the "Pilot" three times to really get a sense of it.
I like the premise, characters, and there's potential for positive growth, IMO. And I'm interested enough to tune in.
I wasn't expecting the show to be laugh out loud funny.
It seems more of a romantic-dramedy, which I prefer.
I love the song they played in the end, and that entire scene.
In the previews, I didn't like the assistant, but he actually is great on the show, thankfully.
It's not my cup of tea.

The show is cute...BET or not. The reality is, any show would be a huge risk on NBC, ABC, CBS, etc since they cancel shows all the time. Atleast BET is giving it a push and there has been no ratchetness. No offense, but Brandy is no Meryl Streep or Angela Bassett. This was cute for her skill level. I hope it's a success.

I watched it again and it's not as bad as my initial viewing.
That said, while i don't expect this to be Moesha part 2, I wish ZEA took a similar approach to Moesha in that Moesha wasn't the primary comic relief. She was supported by a great cast of characters with impeccable comedic timing combined with some great writing and storytelling.
While Brandy has comedic moments, my gripe with her recent acting roles (Chardonnay and Zoe) is that the acting appears a bit over the top - as if she is overacting at times.
While I may be the minority, I think Brandy's dramatic acting chops are a bit stronger than her comedic acting chops. Nonetheless, the show's concept is great and there's definitely room for the characters to grow so I look forward to seeing more episodes.

It really is to do with your outlook on the show before you watch it. If you didn't expect it to be good, you'll be pleasantly surprised and if you expected it to be flawless you may be a bit disappointed. Overall it's a good show and has a throwback appeal to it which will draw audiences in.

A+ brandy looks gorgeous, really she's perfect
B her acting is good although a bit too overzealous. In fact all the actors did too much. They needs to have more cameos, would really take the show to the next level
A the set is beautiful, love the clean look of the show
B- the humor is mediocre although like someone said its a dramaity so it's expected. Also didn't like the laugh track
A- using her music is genius and pretty original, although they need to make it more noticible to add to the mood/drama. Now if only they can sell her music instead of her makeup

Yeah, The show is good! I think it has potential to bring Brandy back to house hold status.
A few intresting comments were made.....we all have opinions but I dont think Brandy is a better drama actress. She def does better w/ sitcom comedy. All her dramtic roles seem flat IMO. Typically sitcom acting is a bit over the top. Regine from Living Single, Gina from Martin, Whitley from Different World are all a bit extra. Its very standard for sitcom. Hell Jerry Seinfeld characters were even over the top.
I cant think of any sitcom outside of ones by comedians (Martin, Cosby, Chris Rock) that were laugh out loud funny. I think Reality T.V. & women acting like gays has desensitized some of you all.

I'm sure if they really thought it was important for him to cry in that scene they would have told him to cry. This is a light hearted comedy. The extra emotional dramatics will probably be kept to a minimum. He did look upset and storm off. That was probably as deep as they wanted him to go in that scene.

Me too, I thought that was so creative. I loved the set design, the colors, the styling, AND India Arie singing my favorite India song! That was a surprise. And "Dig This" in the beginning, which is also a fav of mine. Music all through the show really was on point.

If you go into it as a viewer and not Asa Brandy fan, I think most of you who don't like it may like it better. The writing wasn't bad at all. There were even some witty lines, that may have actually gone unnoticed if you didn't pay close attention. I think they did a great job of developing the character for an 8 episode season. They had to drive home how famous Gemini is, where he and Zoe are in her business, their parenting, the background of the 3 or 4 supporting characters and had to fir that into like 30 minutes. I think they did a pretty solid job. If I didnt take myself out of Brandy stan mode I, too, probably would have picked everything apart instead of just taking it in for what it is.
