Title: 'Masculine'/'feminine': do you care?
Post by: Cartierline on January 10, 2017, 03:32:57 PM
This is a topic that has been to DEATH when it comes to gay issues but yeah, let's discuss lolz.

How would you define yourself in terms of masc/fem? Do you consider how masc/fem someone is when entering a relationship? Are you more drawn to masculine or feminine guys?

This is a no judgment zone guys so please feel free to say what you really feel. I want honest answers.

A nice balance. And I like to have the same.

Don't care for overly masculine or feminine.

Yeah this is where I stand. Either extreme is too much for me.

I'm not attracted to feminine guys. No shade.

We can be friends all day, but I like masculine men.
Although I do think it's cute when a masc guy has a bit of a queen out moment here & there.

I'm attracted to masculine men that don't take themselves too seriously.

As far as my own masculinity, I'd say I'm in between masc & fem.

I think Im pretty fluid though. It really depends on whats going on.

I honestly like fluid men. More so a little bit more feminine than the norm. I couldn't date anyone super masculine.

People clearly have difference perceptions of what masculine and feminine is because I've seen the tradiest faggot turn into some neckrolling hoodrat when they get upset.

I can deal with anything as long as you aren't obnoxious or going out of your way to be a spectacle.

I really think how I conceptualize masculine is being completed okay with feminine mannerisms while still being confident. Not overcompensating or anxious about how they appear. That's really masculinity to me and I find that super attractive. I rarely have encountered that in our community though so I guess that's why I wouldn't date anyone gay and "masculine".

Yeah it all just comes down to confidence really. Being confident in who you are is attractive to me.

It's something I (and most gay people, I'm sure) dealt with in my younger years where I'd try so hard to distance myself from anything considered 'feminine'. As I've grown older, I'm realising all the things I tried to push away are what makes me who I am so why should I spend so much time and effort trying to be something I'm not?

I'm still working on it but yeah, just being yourself and owning it >>>

yes

i think most ppul do not understand that masculinity and femininity are both balances of each other a yin and yang tea
some ppul would interpret some feminine attributes as a man that is feminine but to me real masculinity is embracing our feminine side  being comfortable enough not to be the persona of what we define masulinity to be in america

same with femininity not being defined by queens and their overt ways lol

When I was younger it played a much bigger roll in dating. Thug! Str8 acting only! After a while, I realized that even the most hypermasculine men will display some sort of feminine quality behind clised doors (mannerisms, voice, etc) and those little moments are more jarring imo. I do prefer masculinity in men but I realize the two are not mutually exclusive. And that's fine.

I agree Pearls.

About seven years ago, all I wanted was a damn thug that carried guns and got one and it was one of the worst relationships I ever had. Stayed fighting with the bitch cause he was a damn liar and was scared to be open with who he was. :dead:

I like a guy that is naturally masculine but doesn't take himself too seriously.

I hate when guys try to act "hard" all the time. They won't dance, be silly, smile, laugh, etc.
It's such a turn off because I feel like I'm not getting to know the real you.

Like, one thing I hate is when a guy can never smile for a photo. If we're dating and
you can't even smile in a pic with me because you think it's soft, then we won't work.

I like having a balance within myself and I'm very secure with myself. I also prefer the person that I'm with to have a balance within himself as well. Secure in himself to be able to watch sports one minute and to enjoy a Broadway show or queen tf out to Madonna or some shit the next. LOL  With the way society is set up, people expect you to be either Masc or Fem but realistically it doesn't always work out that way.

you can be both masculine and soft spoken/quiet sis. mmm thats actually a catch

Oh, I kinda have my own definition of soft. I was leaning more towards submissive, dainty, petite lil thing I can hold n protect :justabit: but they're not flamboyant, they're quiet as a mouse.

and then for masculine I'm just naturally more attracted to them but I'm leaning towards a dude with SOME overly masculine characteristics bc I like the challenge of taken them down a few pegs. I like to fight and argue sometimes.

N I feel like a prison inmate but yeah lol.

Title: Re: 'Masculine'/'feminine': do you care?
Post by: BrokenHeartsHeal on January 11, 2017, 11:44:52 AM
I think thats very possible. A LOT of us probably think we lean one-way more than other and we could very much not be what we think. Being in between is probably the best thing.

I don't label myself. I mean I know I'm a masculine guy, never been clocked, never been asked, don't put on for anybody etc. among straights but around gays it's a whole different story because we have so many definitions, weere picky and have too many hang ups when it comes to masculine/feminine and what constitutes it. You can kii and be shady online and still be masculine irl.

Nah bruv, I really do think it's possible to be masc4masc!

Being fem is just a personality trait to me.

I cringe if I see any social media post of a guy claiming "baddest bitch" or their insta page looks like Kylie Jenners

And bottoming is a really personal thing. Not saying all FEMS are bottoms, but they tend to be.

But I def don't think they should just go outside screaming "look at me! Just took dingaling in my booty hole!"

But I've still kinda got that old fashioned and classy mindset

There are a lot of fem tops and masc bottoms. Being fem or masc has nothing to do with who's laying the pipe.

Guys that are insecure think they come across more "manly" if they are the one digging in....until they finally take their first dick.  :sobusyjetsetter:

It's not about masculinity; it's about being straight for a lot of self loathing fags, similar to black american women and their thug obsession.  I've seen so many good looking guys be discarded by gay men once they found out they were gay or effeminate, especially on social media. I bet you cash money if Odell came out as a gay right now, his stock would drop with a lot of sissies and punks.

I loathe hyper masculinity and I'm not too keen on exaggerated femininity. A Andr? Holland or Jussie Smollet type is best for me.

Usually the ones that come out are the ones that nobody wanted to begin with.

I used to love Rob Evans DOWN, you hear me? Then I saw dude on Top Model and was totally turned off by his stick in the mud ass attitude. Dude was just too hyper masculine and was a little homophobic. If I can't be playful and affection towards you, or vise versa, it's a no for me.

its funny how someone brought up pics...It's so easy to find what is "overly fem," but the pics ppl can think of as "overly masc" are pic of thugs and niggas that look like they don't wipe good. I think it's def easier to spot a overly fem guy with the traits to follow. Overly masculine is more of the traits than the look, it's more of a cringe-worthy performance.

And another thing, if you hang out with some, straight men gossip jus like any ole woman or fag. It's sickening... just talk too damn much. :uhh:

I don't know what's so wrong with not being feminine completely. Nothing is really wrong with either situation. People are who they are. I think if the people on this board when extra fem, they'd say it.

I just know I'm not extra fem, nor am I extra masculine. It's a balance.

Oh pls. If Odell came out we would be lined up across the corner waiting for our turn.

Usually the ones that come out are the ones that nobody wanted to begin with.

Let a fine ass athlete come out. I'm ready to get my Evelyn lozada on

N.

Ricky Martin came out, the girls stopped carin'. Jussie came out, the girls stopped carin'. Colton Haynes came out, the girls stopped carin. Who else I'm missing?  :whogonbook:

Who honestly wanted these men?

White gays

Don't let lew posting pics of (future) jail birds fool anyone into thinking that's how people picture masc.

NOT MASCULINE IN GENERAL

the hypermasuline overly macho mess

Masc is a demeanor not a look.

George Michael. He once said he had a huge gay fan base, till he came out. Now did anything really change in their mannerisms after they came out?
pretty George Michael dancing around in denim cutoffs wasn't the most masculine image to begin with.
So are people losing interest in someone's hyper masculine image or is this just that silly human instinct of wanting what you feel you can't have?

Ru Paul said it too, gays don't like to support other gays. i think gay men have some type of Stockholm syndrome. THey're in love with the idea of a straight man. It turns me off.
no
it's not about support. People just lose interest in what they feel is easily attainable.
but let's not act like these guys were anymore fem after coming out than before and THATS what made the gays stop caring

I see what you're saying, but I can't relate to that because I like it when they're out. I actually lose interest when I find out a guy is straight and I have no chance.  I don't like one sided attractions, so to me it just feels odd to go after a man you don't even have a 40% chance of obtaining cause he's straight. Why put yourself through that type of torture? And who says these men are attainable? I doubt Jussie or Ricky will ever be close enough for me to touch let alone fuck, but the fact that they are gay thrills me. None of them are fem to me; clockable to some degree? yeah. I like that though because how the hell are we going to tell who is gay and straight if we can't read the signs?

Don't believe in masculinity or feminity, and don't care.
