But learning how to do a run properly does not go against her skill
obviously she can because when they "teach" her she gets it on the first try
She just likes to sing and do runs with ppl it's not that deep
and it's not fake because she ALWAYS did it
even on the first album she says Ray J taught her some runs and we know she's way better than him vocally

first try!

Sis knew how to do it already

She's so silly
what about the Jazmine one, did she know that one?
Brandy doesn't need to be "taught" how to do any run Ray :dead:
I don't think it's her being "taught" but learning new techniques and always listening. Her voice continues to progress because of her listening ear and lack of complacency

Palladium

Yes it does!

And like some body else said I think she does it to show admiration for the other person but it's annoying and cringeworthy at times.

This conversation is so interesting.  Do you guys think when singers have consistent vocal coaching that they are necessarily learning how to sing?

That Jazmine and Brandy clip always comes to mind.  I think Brandy, like most great singers, can probably learn anything by ear.  But it's gotta be amazing to sit with other great singers in the industry and play around with runs and technique.  Even if it's just to confirm what she may already have learned by ear.  Real singers love real singers.  It's not about ego or being fake IMO.  I think she just gets excited to connect with artists about vocals.  And may genuinely be a fan of other artists.
!!!

Of course she could learn it by ear, but it makes it more special for her to meet with the person she's listening to on record and have a vocal session. A lot of working singers do that :dead: not shocked this place is so appalled tho

Exactly!

I think that's all there is to it.
