With the streaming era undeniably upon us, the music landscape is changing at a rapid rate. Case in point, the fact online plays now factor into chart positions and certifications.

Still, there?s a certain prestige attached pure sales ? especially for artists fortunate enough to wrack up sizeable portions.Beyonce is proving to be one of the acts at the forefront of this pack, particularly with her latest effort ?Lemonade.

According to Hits Daily Double, the visual album sold 58,000 in pure sales in the most recent tracking week. A number that rises to 83,000 when factoring its TIDAL-exclusive streams.

The feat brings its total US sales over the 1 million mark (to be exact, 1,053,971) With SPS, it?s 1,486,221.

In reaching this major milestone, ?Lemonade? becomes the the first and only album by a female artist released in 2016 to go platinum in pure sales. It?s also part of a super elite list of releases, from any gender, to enjoy success ? the most notable other being Drake?s ?VIEWS.?

Whether the head of the BeyHive or her most stinging critic, it?s imperative to give credit where due. And there?s no doubt it?s due.

Rih isn't platinum?

Anti has a platinum plaque because Samsung paid for a million copies on the back end. However, Soundscan relies on sales from stores like Target, Best Buy or the iTunes Store?there's no way to manipulate that number of units, just the price per unit. Bey's album has been selling for 18.99 as a physical copy and 17.99 as a digital copy.
