If the list was compiled using official RIAA data it's definitely solid.

Blogs and other sites do the same thing basically. They review data provided by Soundscan, Billboard, RIAA, etc. and simply report on it.

Unless someone can prove that he conveniently omitted or exaggerated something here, I don't see the issue.

I think it'd be more reasonable to really question the source of a list if it's one of those very general "Best of All Time" messes. If someone posts a "Best Rap Lyricists of All Time" list without a link I'd want to know where they got it from.

It could be Sarah somewhere in Idaho typing up random names as she goes along for all I know. And that's much different from someone like Common or Nas sitting down to write the same list. I'd want to know the credibility of the source before I even bother giving the list any credence. Where did this opinion come from?

In this case, since we're talking nothing but numbers/certifications, the source is RIAA. Kang ain't making the news, he's just reporting it
