I finally have a group of Gay friends. I've known them individually for a few years but we've gotten really close since Summer. I haven't dealt with any of the messiness people usually associate with Gays in this group. But we're all late 20s/early 30s so that's probably why.

That's the best way to put it. And I used to hang with nothing but females, but they are so catty and it's nothing but drama. I've kinda distanced myself from the girls I grew up with. Like we still talk every other day, but I don't hang out with them the way I used to.

People act all offended when I say the things I say when it's regarding this. Most of my experiences with gay guys, mainly the more effeminate ones were all bad. I don't care if you're masculine or feminine, if you're cool, then we can be cool. It's just that I can't deal with the cattiness, the shadiness and all that because I'm really a laid back guy. So that's why I hate attending all gay functions and all that cause it's never a positive situation for me. Just like I'm an odd one on this board. It's the same way in real life with the gay guys.

I have a cool little circle of friends that I'm happy with. I mean I hang a lot of people but I wouldn't consider them all friends. They're fun. We all share common interests.

I cut off two of my female friends I met in college when the whole gay marriage thing came out. Sometimes I feel like straight guys are way more supportive of us than women. It looks like straight dudes are rougher on us, but I kinda feel like the women are. These two girls were in the trenches with me about 7 years ago when I first came out the closet and they were holding my hand and encouraging to live my life and be me.
But as soon as the gay marriage bill was PASSED, "Oh! Disgusting! Demonic! Going to hell!" Really BITCH? I cussed them both out. :dead:

No I understand where your coming from. I guess I stopped feeling that way when I had more positive experiences with other Blk gay men and when I also started understanding why some gays act the way that they act. For me, Im just at an event to enjoy myself and my people. If someone wants to be shady or catty then that's on them. I can't control how they act but I can control how I respond. Understanding that really helped me pay things instead of the alternatives lol.
