it's not about that. the charts simply work different. BTS, for example, had a song that debuted at #1 because they had 8 different versions of the song for their fans to download. And they've released another 8 versions at least since. Back in the day, a song would progressively rise in popularity until it hit the #1 spot. nowadays, a lot of artists release songs and go all out for it to debut at #1 and after a few weeks, it falls off the charts. that's why I say it aint the same. when janet would win 10 billboard awards, she worked for that shit. now drake can put out an album and the songs get downloads and he walks away with 20 billboard awards. nicki has more hot 100 entires than aretha fucking franklin
kanye won 4 gospel awards at the billboard awards leaving kirk and every other gospel artist with big gospel/christian hits out to dry lol. 4 nominations in 1 category. tekashi gets a music video out that gets hella views and the song is spun by ppl, a good amt just cause folks is curious and the song debuts at #1 and falls off. same can be said about albums too. so many albums debut high these days and then in the 2nd week, its no longer in the top 100. like I said, things r just diff, especially since the past couple yrs.
