That assumption always tickles me. Some of these people can prioritize better, yes. But a lot of them are living paycheck to paycheck anyway, so if they wanna drop 150 dollars on little things here and there, I don?t see the point in crucifying them.

Meh.  She's literally putting one materialistic thing over the other.  And it's easy for people who are in a certain tax bracket to say, because while traveling, they have access to so much more.  A lot of people will spend all that money on flight and hotel and have pennies for spending money.  As someone who has been out of the country (you have too!), I can say that it is always well worth it and an amazing experience.  Hell, traveling period if you're booking dope trips.  However, saving up coin to go to Disney World for a weekend may not be as important to someone as rocking their favorite dress, shoe or bag. 

As long as your bills are paid and kids are fed, spend your money on whatever you want.

And what I really don't like is that it's saying that people who are not well off are not allowed to buy material things.  We shame them and tell them instead to save for expensive vacations?  That's what Loni was trying to articulate.  So many people go through life never being able to own more than one nice pair of shoes at a time.  So, I totally understand why someone wants to immediately purchase things many of us take for granted.  It's easy for Adrienne to say with a closet full of red bottoms what a poor person should spend their money on.

I didn't have a passport until I was like 27.    But have always had a great job and been on my own since I was like 18.  What is she even talking about?
