Quote from: PRESSED on December 18, 2022, 07:47:17 PMI guess I've just seen u go from so many different groups of ppl... it's just all a bit confusing.

You were just Brazilian, right?

I remember Mulungeon, Blue Ridge Indians, Somali, Ethiopian, just to name a few.

And how many tests did you take?
I feel like you took the first test more than half a decade ago. Why are the tests steadily evolving?

Is it a Pokémon?

another great and valid question/statement. u hit it on the nose actually
and answered ur own question. very smart.

DNA tests and their accuracy is constantly evolving.

i was actually one of the first people to do DNA ancestry tests before it became a huge thing/trend. (like u mentioned, like a decade ago. sdnnsddnsnsdnsd )
that actually put me at a disadvantage as tests like this were in their infancy.

but as more people joined, the more samples are collected by companies. .. the more ACCURATE and precise the results become over time. so it makes sense.

many of those ethnicities you listed were guesses I made in the past - with being possibly of East African, Melungeon descent etc.

there are actually people in East Africa (many of whom are known to be a mixture of African and Middle Eastern) who I feel look a lot like me. like this guy.

this is where my guesses came from. they were shots in the dark.

Melungeon heritage was a guess as well as there is no actual DNA result for "Melungeon"
sfnsfnsfnnsnsfnsfnfsn

But in reality, I have two grandparents who are multi-ethnic.

Grandma is African-American of Native Brazilian heritage
Grandpa is African-American and Ashkenazi Jew

In what ways do you see a resemblance?

Also, do u feel closer to yourself now that you've unearthed this?

Like what's the end goal? Why not teach  other Black ppl how to dissect and explore their heritage?

For someone that's been dedicated to self discovery (heritage wise and ancestrally) , why not make it a career
i wouldn't say i feel "closer to myself" as im the same person i was before all of this

but i definitely feel closer to my ancestors, and my grandparents.

also, it just makes sense of things.

if u haven't noticed i'm a person who needs answers and need to make sense of stuff. sfsffssff
if something's not clicking for me in some way I will go tf in until I feel my curiosity/questions has been fully satisfied.

this isn't true just for my ancestry journey. if you've been around long enough (which it appears you have given ur detailed timelines sfsfsffs ), you'll know i love to dig and confirm/verify things that i find interesting.

and i actually have helped other african-americans (or even other groups) who may have questions about their results and ancestry.
im a member of a few ancestry groups.
like u said, i've spent a lot of time which means i have a lot of experience and can answer a lot of questions. so why not share that if i have nothing better to do on any given day.

ultimately this is fun and interesting for me. am i planning trips to Brazil and converting to Judaism?
not really.

for now my ass is OK in Atlanta and i still don't believe those stories about israel in the bible are real.

but it's fun.
now u know what im gonna ask. sffsfs its time for the question: does that make sense?

Ashkenazi Jews are always gonna be from some part of Eastern Europe (Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, etc) so that's not a surprise or anything super special. at least in terms of that group.

I love a philanthropic exotic king.  :young:

That's beautiful (giving back, helping the girls, bridging the gap).

My question is:
Does this mean you aren't BLUE RIDGE ANYMORE?
I'm not here for friends.

PRESSED

Didn't you March through their reservation?

I hope that wasn't all in vain.
I had felt a strong connection with you since I recently discovered my native ancestry  :receipts:

If that was all a ruse, I can't say that I'd be able to get past this.

Amazing

I'm 100% east African but my DNA test says 60% east African 16% middle Eastern 12% Levant region and 12% Nortj African. A lot of East Africans get similar results. A lot of these mixtures are from thousands of years ago. My recent DNA (past 500 years) is mainly East African and some Middle Eastern.

I never said I marched through any reservation or even traveled anywhere to meet with anyone but I did say I was in contact with a tribal leader who was very welcoming and willing to help me sort things out with the information I had at the time. (Vague and general "Native American" result and a record referencing Blue Ridge Mountains in VA written records by someone who was into genealogy that I was far too trusting of).

I also later admitted on here that I was wrong about my guesses. I took the L on that one, but obviously you missed it.

For a long time, many reports gave me a very vague "Native American" result, leaving me to - once again- shoot in the dark guessing which Native American tribe or area I actually came from.

Such as this one: (Which also picked up my Eastern European/Russian/Jewish DNA)

But with time, the results from other tests got more ACCURATE and PRECISE.

Letting me know I am not North American Native (Cherokee, etc) but instead SOUTH American Native (Brazil).
Which I honestly would have never guessed.

And which also made sense of my  grandmother's DNA - which pointed her roots to Brazil.

So yes, I am of Native descent, but not the kind of Native I assumed, as per DNA.

I've taken a lot of L"s on my journey, but I was not TOTALLY on the wrong track.

Well, the DNA results do evolve as they get more data. I did my ancestry DNA test some years ago and my percentage breakdowns change every year.
