:loose2when:
Brandy has influenced the last quarter century of pop music and helped define the R&B legacy of the '90s and '00s with seven rich, innovative albums. She's an esteemed vocalist who along the way had to manage the pressures of teenage fame, young superstardom, and self-doubt.
These are her Words + Music.
In Brandy's A New Moon she holds nothing back as she traces the personal experiences, triumphs, and traumas that shaped her as a global, generational superstar. Written and conceived by Brandy with Gerrick Kennedy, Brandy's Words + Music entry is an intimate and bracingly raw mediation on power and purpose from one of the most influential singers of all time.
Finally. Hopefully, new moon is a full moon deluxe. It comes out this Thursday, 11 pm cst time.
Im excited! Just started playing John Legend's version and he's singing so she better be too!
We already confirmed that she's got new acoustic recordings for this.
I hope she's being real in this.
And there will be new recordings?
This is probably going to be an emotional episode. She has revealed a lot over the decades. I am happy she is triumphant despite all that she has experienced and struggles with. Brandy is a go getter and inspiration.
Woooo :stressed:
Well.. It's something new.
Next year should be busy as far as movies and music
I still can't believe this is what she was teasing back in February.
Quote from: Gilgamesh. on November 29, 2022, 03:05:42 PMI hope she's being real in this.

Its really time for us to experience the personal growth alongside the artistic growth. Brandy is in such a beautiful place in her life rn and I feel like it's time she be transparent with her journey. I hope this exceeds expectations.
I think Adam Blackstone arranged the music. He's such a stan.

And now on Chapter 6 where she discusses Human but it goes to Almost Doesn't Count... she sounds good af though

I love that she's sharing and being honest in her way.
I'm so glad to stan such a beautiful, resilient and talented woman.
Her breaking down building Moesha :plzstop: Queen IS Moesha :kii:
Omg the way she sings what about us ackkkk wow
i dont like the human shade AT ALL. I still think if it had performed differently she would speak differently on it.
SN i hate that the industry media etc didnt let her grow up. afro could have been a success if they let her be an adult. she was 24 or so and they wanted her to be that 15 yr old little girl and she wasnt that.
I definitely put some respect on "B7" name after this. Say what you want but it's some of her most honest work and she needed to create that album for her own personal healing which what musicians do.
I love how she's come to terms with the fact that "All American girl next door" image wasn't a real thing but was curated to maintain an image. It's the growth for me. Create your own art, Queen, and tell your story the way you want!
I want her to divulge more about the Afro and 2/11 eras, and I'm sure she will at some point.
When she started crying about the accident and how people treated her :loose2when: :gorlonfire: I was ready to fight for Bran Bran she didn't deserve the backlash at all :'(

Yeah I wanted to learn more about her process with both albums too
The 2/11 story had me a bit shocked... I didn't know how depressed she was with the pressures of her being trendy and to compete again... i see now why she prob fought for Wildest Dreams to be the 2nd single b/c it probably was more authentic to her

Yeah, I know she said she doesnt like how Pop the records were, but she could always re-do a song like Right Here in a R&B record. If she actually slowed it down and give it a ADC kinda approach, it would go over so well. And to be quite frank, I need her to start performing TAOL again.

She didn't diss it. You clearly weren't listening. She struggled with the voices of label politics dictating her creative decision which is why we got the album we got instead of going in the direction that she wanted to go in with records like "Home" and "Drum Life".

Those songs feel like "Brandy". Just very innovative, cutting edge but have the power to be massive for her because that's authentic to her sound. James Fauntleroy is such a stan. You can tell she's the artist he has in mind when he writes. He's even said time and again that that's his favorite singer ever.
DJ Camper still has some growing to do. I'm not sure if I can make out his sound. Talented though.
I just hope she leans into that direction with B8. James and Victoria need to be heavy on the pen.

"This was an album born out of great agony"
Fuck you Brandy. :uhh:
Back in 2008/2009 she blamed Rodney for not giving her his best....then after she said it wasn't her style and she's R&B,....now she says that it was the label , well she did R&B with 2/11 and B7 but those albums didn't have much success. She should just accept the fact human had good songs but didn't have the success she expected
At this point, Brandy might as well work with Sony/Epic to give us a repackaged version of Human and provide the unreleased songs of what should've been the album... I think it'll satisfy everyone across the board
I need a proper release of Drum Life, Home, WTLN, Freedom, Porcelain Doll, Sweet Nothings and for the world to experience them songs as well

i honestly cant blame her
ive come to accept and appreciate human for what it is
but it really pissed me off that they didnt go in that direction of the unreleased teas we got from that era
took me a long time to let go of human's scalp and just let it be
there are some amazing songs on that album. doesn't stand anywhere near Afrodisiac creatively but its a very good album with great messages.
what also pissed me off about that era is that i feel like GHan had so much
creative momentum ...jumping from Full Moon to Afrodisiac...then jumping to the new era/sound she envisioned - which was shot down in favor of a "safer" approach
i really think the hUman era bruised her creative momentum and she didn't fully recover from it until B7.
even tho 2/11 was another great album with great songs.
to me human and 2/11 were her "microwave" albums. tastes pretty good and its pipin' hot but u dont really get that "shes in her bag" feeling at all.
She kinda explained it that way in the audiobook too, the 2/11 section surprised me a bit b/c it's my fav adult era from her and if anything she became accepted by the GP again and grew as a performer... there were def some positives but seems like she was depressed behind the scenes

but again it didn't have that "feeling" behind it. i could tell ghan wasn't in it.
she'll always be
competent as an artist because she's immensely talented. she'll always give you a sickening vocal. she'll always be on key.
she'll always know how to ride a beat. that's expected and that's why Human and 2/11 are still great albums.
they're great because even if she's not completely invested she can't help but to still do a great job.
but that feeling was missing.
B7 felt/feels like GHan's bvy and that's why I loved it, accepted it and stood behind it 100%.
Even if its not her best mastered/produced album or whatever
I could tell her heart was in it. :stressed: and for that i loved it too
Yea the songs on Human (besides Right Here Departed, Shattered Heart and Fall) are pretty much standard 2008 Pop, just with Bran's signature harmonies and runs over them. It's clearly her weakest album IMO
Also it's her first album to not be certified so it probably holds that kind of bad memory in Bran's mind

surprised u why? U know she had a Terrible deal and went on a 5 yr ass battle against the record company immediately after. And when she was done went ON AND ON proclaiming shes been "FREED" :dead:
i think he's referring to the era itself and not all the label drama/restrictions that followed it
its fair to assume ghan was onboard with the label at first and excited.
she was definitely (seemingly) happy and excited as the album rollout proceeded.
but like most relationships (including business), things are exciting at first then shit gets real down the road.
its not unreasonable for someone to assume an artist was happy when they presented as such during an era.
he was surprised to discover she was depressed behind all the smiles and excitement
i haven't listened yet so im just going off of how he worded his post.
Quote from: say so on December 04, 2022, 12:01:03 PMi think he's referring to the era itself and not all the label drama/restrictions that followed it
its fair to assume ghan was onboard with the label at first and excited.
she was definitely (seemingly) happy and excited as the album rollout proceeded.
but like most relationships (including business), things are exciting at first then shit gets real down the road.
its not unreasonable for someone to assume an artist was happy when they presented as such during an era.
he was surprised to discover she was depressed behind all the smiles and excitement.
!!!
Yeah these are exactly my thoughts. I was more shocked that during the actual era herself she was still depressed b/c she had this fierceness and hunger that made you believe she wanted to win again.
The aftermath of the label drama we clearly watched it all play out so we knew she wasn't at her best at that point and it showed too
I was at a release party for 2/11 and she was very much depressed. Could have been the relationship she was in :/ India Arie was there almost as a therapist tbh. It was weird but a special memory I have. I love this girl and hope to say hi to her again sometime sooner than later. I need some of that energy in my life ❤️

thats yet another crazy contrast (if true) considering "wildest dreams"
I'm not gonna lie I was hoping she would have done a song we haven't heard live before BUT she absolutely killed Borderline. I can't stop running back the last 1:30.
I'll be happy when she puts the pain behind her and moves on with her life once and for all. I feel like she dwells in those dark places too much and it's holding her back in a lot of ways. Living in the past and rehashing that stuff all the time doesn't help.

she has moved on IMO
we see her working consistently...looking great . living her life
maybe not living her life and taking on projects in the way WE'D prefer (albums ASAP lol) , but moving on nevertheless.
"a new moon" was the time and place for her kinda dwell on her past struggles.
it was appropriate. moving on isn't about forgetting what you've been through or acting like it hasn't shaped you are in some way... it's about not letting it cripple you.
now if she reveals that she sits around all day looking at walls and thinking about mess that's different
but im sure once she wrapped this up she started working on her next mess.
it's clear to me GHan's mind is still full of positive possibilities . and that in itself is proof that she's not willfully drowning herself in darkness.

I made a U.S. Audible account but it says NEW MOON is not available in my country. Does anyone have a link where I can still listen maybe? Would be greatly appreciated.
nevermind, its working now!

sending a curse his way :flamebroiled:
There was a producer on IG teasing When You Touch Me for New Moon. I think they were in the studio and he was playing the When You Touch Me chords and he appeared to be adding vocals to it. Maybe it was supposed to be on, but left off for whatever reason.
Most of the clips are on YouTube. AID and WAU are insane :plzstop: she almost sounds like MJ on WAU.

This page has done a LOT of isolating Bran's vocals on different tracks
I love it!

This is dope. I hope Bran hires the FYI Brand Group (brand strategy & marketing company they work with many of the managers at SALXCO & their clients (including her cousin's other client Metro Boomin) soon because they would get her mag spreads/covers.
Im taking isolation requests
What do you need to get it done? I need some Tank tracks done
