There once was a time where unused tracks, and demos were released in abundance from our favorite artist. I miss the golden years of 2005 - 2009. Did security at the studios get better?  Did someone get sued in the past causing people to be scared of legal action?  It's strange that in this time of social media , and everyone owning a smartphone that the music industry is more hush hush than ever

But to answer the question I think studios got tighter with security. I imagine the labels have invested a ton in copyright monitoring ( I don't know if that's the proper term).

A lot of Artist and teams are getting strict. New rules. No phones etc.. Only a handful of people get a copy. Privacy agreements. Etc...

They also weren't prepared for the advancements in technology

It amazed me that when music would leak, when you checked the original file name it would be detailed with the actual song title and artist name.
And it would be the raw file

Was there not one person in the music industry with common knowledge on fcking computers or who knew what encryption was?

There are always some leaks on viperial though. Or are they all official?
