starting @ 4:57-5:15 always makes me go  :uhh: SHIT.

:gorlonfire:

MAN!  She was so beasty DIL and Destiny Fulfilled era.  She would just go for it!

I wish she still had that confidence.

IDK what happened though. She seems pretty confident on stage performing. I wonder did someone behind the scenes say something that kinda fucked up her singing confidence.  ^o)

anyhoo that technique is a called diminuendo and only classical singers use it. :stressed:  and she's not even classically trained ( i dont think)

this old video breakdown of her is where I remember the term from.

I honestly believe it's just a mixture of so many things!  We'd probably never really know for sure.  The ability is there, but I do think a big part of it is just confidence.  It's funny how she would just go in and always go for it when she wanted to be respected and show off her talent.  She was damn near an over-singer!

Now, I think there's a pressure there to just be perfect, because everyone's expectation of her is so next-level.  Every time she performs, people are expecting the Sun & the Moon to move.

She also doesn't record music as ad-lib heavy as DIL era either or as vocally challenging as the B'Day stuff anymore beyond a couple tracks.  So, that also plays a part.

I just miss the VOCALS! :gorlonfire:

I think that's why "All Night" has become my favorite on Lemonade tied with "Pray".

You familiar with the term BBC?  :acquit:

LOONA.

I honestly just think she grew out of singing that way.

Her whole vocal style has almost changed. Everything is so restrained and subdued. It matches her image these days though.

BAPHOMET.

Speaking of "All Night".... Y'all thought I was going to let an opportunity pass to NOT post this little GEM?

:justabit: 2007-yonce is still there TUCKED down there. She only gets to peek out sometimes.

That could be too.  But to the vocal expert folks, the obvious change in her tone and how deep her voice has gotten.... Does that affect a singer's ability and technique?  Like, would she now find it harder to sing the way she used to?  And would she have to re-learn some things?

Bey is so tricky and confusing with her ability
one minute she?s singing Halo, and dodging all the challenging parts
the next minute she?s doing that CIL run live and even better than in 2003
then the fact that she?s a female, and I remember Whitney and Mariah saying women?s voices get deeper when they?re on their menstrual
I think the ability is still there, but probably just takes more effort
and conserving it to show off in spots

And being lazy!  She's gotten used to relying on back tracks.  And her shows have gotten really performance based.  The fact she chose full out choreography for "Schoolin Life" and a pre-record as opposed to just singing it pisses me off.

But don't get me started!

And are people in here pretending like Beyonce sings live ! I have seen and heard it all
so u about to sit in here and act like beyonce cant sing :dead: :dead: :dead:
I'm not gonna sit here and act like she can't sang cause she can. I'm just saying her voice and her vocal styling leaves a lot to be desired....

Brandy would lash her any fucking day and fucking time and y'all sitting here regarding Beyonce as the vocal standard post Whitney is a joke. The bitch literally sangs the same 8 notes rearranged over and over.
I used to love brandy with all my heart but no she doesnt sing better than beyonce
