monica needs to genre bend
Her and Pharrell talked about doing ghetto pop
I'm ready for their tea
I cringed when those two words came out of their mouths... wrong wrong and wrong! it's difficult to find where Monica belongs in the industry. She has pop potential and then she has hood girl potential and then she has traditional R&B potential. It's hard trying to market her. It's like there are two sides to her.
I'm not wanting some ghetto pop record, I want to get lost in a Monica record. I want her to give us her all, let us in and connect to her music. She's so opened but private at the same time. Minister to the broken hearted, the lost loves, the happy people, etc. Don't record a song cause it sounds good. She should Record a song because she connects to it and it's apart of her story. I'm sure she and city girls came with a nice record but will it be sustainable. Both she and Brandy should be trying to connect with people on an emancipation of Mimi level. Hopefully this makes sense! (These two women are my everything in music)
