jeanie was talkin shit
shes basically sayin make characters gay so kids will know
and thats dumb
kids do not view it from that lense
Tamera is unraveling
Her marriage is gonna end in shambles
Tamera was so extra
OKAY GWORL! :uhh:
I?m glad Jeannie is finally standing up for herself a bit tho... just wish she could?ve done it with Tamar.
But also, I don?t remember Sesame Street even having couples in general so I?m not really sure why a gay one is being emphasized tbh
Tamera was being so rude & extra
These faces she?s making while Jeannie is talking
Kii.
I see points on both sides though. 3 & 4 year old kids don?t usually care about all that.
However, if they?re gonna show Kermit & Piggy all boo?d up then why can?t there be a gay couple?
If they're not gay, they're not gay
I don't think we should argue that
Creating a gay character would be fine
That would have helped ME... at that age.
Cause I sure knew I had a liking for boys more, even before five years old.
That does not mean I knew about SEX. But I knew I liked boys.
People need to stop acting like kids don't have an inkling.
Both made points.
And Always thought they were faggots, just didn't know the terminology. :letsmessfag:
Jeanie was talking all kinda shit. If the creators of Bert and Ernie say they arent gay, how is that a bad thing? They just...aren't. That doesnt mean he's saying being gay is a bad thing. Sorry, gotta agree with Tamera on this one. Sesame Street dont have the responsibility of teaching kids that gay is okay. And tbh, I hate when some TV shows these days simply add a gay character just to appease the audience and pull in from the gay audience, most of which are typically a stereotypical role.

Excellent point.
It'd be different if they didn't show no signs of 'liking someone in that way' on the show at all. But they did.
Tamera lowkey seems homophobic and always has tho. certain faces she makes when they have trans women or flamboyant gay men on the show are very obvious.

But Kermit and Piggy never appeared on Sesame Street. That's a different show - The Muppets.
I think a character having two mommies or two daddies could help, tho.
I mean, I NEVER thought of myself getting married growing up.
And I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I never saw two men getting married.
Granted, it was illegal... I know.

True.
At the same time, I don't think thats what Sesame Street's mission is. If their main goal is to be a program that can teach young kids how to read, learn alphabets and colours, etc., then that's their objective. Their program shouldn't be forced to have other missions, one of them being to showcase hetero and homosexuality. What's next? They would have to show that transsexual relationships as well? That's just not their goal, imo. They cant showcase everything. Leave that to some other program(s).

If that were the case they wouldn't have added Julia to the cast. She has autism.
The creators of the show are obviously trying to expand and teach children new things.

They shouldn?t have made the characters gay just for the hell of it but they should?ve taken this opportunity to show that they could be either best friends and/or a couple. I would rather have seen them emphasize the importance of privacy in relationships rather than forcing people to admit what they are or are not to other people if that makes sense..
And the YouTube narrator is so stupid. Those characters from the cartoon shows she mentioned at the end were definitely gay because they were flamboyant and oversexual? :uhh:
If we?re teaching children tolerance and respect for ones indivuality then I?m here for the introduction of gay characters. But if it?s simply to sensationalize the fact that Bert and Ernie are a gay couple, which that has always been the tea, then they can keep it.

I think that a lot of people forget that this entire mess is based off some assumptions, not necessarily what the creators stated they had in mind.
If anything maybe we should side eye the people who made the assumption and ask if they'd feel the same way if it were two female characters living together. Would they be lesbians? Or is it just that two men can't be that close without being fags?
!! And I think we?d be side eyeing LGBTQNSX. I don?t think this was a thing until we started looking for and expecting gayness everywhere.

I think "Gay" is only a put off thing once you add sex. It's so weird to me how people sexualize innocent things. Being Gay is more than fucking up the butt. Introducing Gay characters is simply a way for individuals to see a reflection of themselves. Nothing more, nothing less.
Besides how your children are raised in your household is your responsibility. They should be made aware that the shit they see on TV is for entertainment purposes only.
I wouldn't want my small kids being taught any kind of gay shit. PERIOD.
