Quote from: M-Rocka on October 13, 2023, 11:24:03 AMI remember a rumor from the early 00s that Ghan wanted to portray Wanda Jean Allen, the first black woman to be executed in the state of Oklahoma in decades for murdering her girlfriend. I don't know how accurate that was.

That would've been dope. I really hope Bran starts consistently doing drama & horror. I think the big thing with horror is that she has to be careful not to get suckered into doing many sequels because I think about what happened with Neve Campbell.

The studio didn't want to meet her demands eventually & I believe that was tied to them feeling like Neve not having major roles outside of Scream meant she needs Scream.

I just hope for Bran to get everything she wants from acting before so much changes in her industry.
I definitely would love to see Ghan transition into more dramatic roles as well. Make people take notice of her undeniable craft.

I feel you on Neve. I love her! I remember reading somewhere how hesitant she was about accepting the role of Sidney Prescott in fear of being typecasted due to her being in The Craft, but the studio and the powers that be reassured her that the role was different from Bonnie and she'd be the main character and hero of the series.

She was pretty good in Wild Things. I wouldn't mind also seeing Bran in neo noir type of films too.

I felt bad for Neve back when reading how the studio lowballed her despite all her contributions to the Scream. I get it's a business but those studios & streamers really can get cutthroat.

I think Brandy can conquer horror if she does original IPs she could probably avoid the same thing that happened to Neve. Then branch out into other genres.

I recall hearing that it's best for an actor to secure "their thing" (i.e Meg Ryan - Romcoms, Tom - action, Viola - meaty roles, Vin - Fast & Furious) then that can help them later in their career. It was speculation that's why The Rock went back to Vin Diesel to do a non-FF 11/Hobbs & Shaw spinoff after 'Black Adam' didn't do well because 'Black Adam' was supposed to be his thing.

Maybe the last singing roles she'll do will be those movies. The fact that she agreed to do another horror movie is a step up because she was against doing horror again back in the day.

A lot of times when A24 posts trailers & stuff for other movies there will be comments asking about 'The Front Room.' There have even been comments in non-English asking about it, so this could be a big one for Bran. So you're so right that the anticipation is high.

If she going forward can get into a strictly drama/horror/action bag that would be amazing for Bran. An Equalizer/action/villain type projects I could see her in. I get though she has to work her way up to getting offered roles like that.

'Black Adam' was supposed to be The Rock's 'Mission Impossible' 'Top Gun' 'Bad Boys' so a staple project. It probably was hard for him to swallow his pride & go back to Vin for a FNF spinoff.

I agree with ALL OF THIS!!!!!!

I am so excited about this new role for her. Hopefully she continues working with A24, especially after they swept the Oscars this past year. I got teary eyed when Brendan Fraser won for The Whale. I've never seen the film, just clips of it on YouTube and he deservingly won that Oscar. Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeo, especially Michelle. With her being the first Asian woman to win a leading role Oscar is huge. I'm praying that Bran gets that recognition she deserves when the Awards season approaches.

Do you ever watch the '31 Days of Oscars' on TCM? They air it annually around January - April showing classic films that were either nominated or won Oscars. I've DVR'd several movies that I was dying to see. :plzstop:

Her name on the poster  :plzstop:. I remember someone asked her a few years ago something like why she didn't do a lot of movies & she said something like "I'm not a movie girl." Now look at her now with the biggest role so far in her career. Bran will get something whether it be a few of the majors nominations/awards or several on the indie award circuit.

I just watched the trailer for 'The Iron Claw' from A24 with the Zac Efron & Jeremy Allen White. The cinematography is always gorgeous with their productions.

I really love that with acting an actor can reach their peak at anytime in their career. It's really amazing seeing actors be able to get into their career highs at any age of their career. Michelle Yeoh said she used to get offered roles mainly earmarked for Asian actresses now she's getting roles that do have an ethnicity specification.

I love that! Yeah, I'm super obsessed with 31 Days of Oscars, I'm definitely turning into my parents. They used to watch TCM all the time and I'd always call them boring for watching films like Carmen Jones, Guess Who's Coming To Dinner, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, To Kill A Mockingbird, etc..and now look at me. Getting all excited when I see it on TV and I'm quick to DVR it.

They even aired the movie Last Summer (1969) which is a rare film that was rated X due to its graphic r*pe scene, but it was heavily edited. I watch the old Oscars clips on YouTube where Katharine Hepburn won her awards, but never attended them actual ceremony except once.

I saw a thumbnail for The Iron Claw; I haven't actually seen the trailer, but I heard positive things about.

During Brandy's 20th anniversary in the game, I believe it was Gladys Knight (correct me if I'm wrong) that said to Brandy the best is yet to come for her, and she's about to get so much recognition with The Front Room and I'm anticipating it. :flamebroiled:

!!!!! We've seen Bran in comedy, drama, teen slasher/thriller, but the anticipation for a psychological horror film is pretty high in my eyes.

Don't even get me started on Black Adam, that movie was atrocious. :plzstop:  :plzstop:

:plzstop:
I knew I liked you, Mikey. Taste! That brings back so many memories from my childhood.
French Exit ♻️

It's not a broken heart if I don't break it
"Goodbye" doesn't hurt if I don't say it
And I really hope you'll understand it
Only way to go is a French exit
