Quote from: rosone1 on April 05, 2023, 12:15:34 PMI like them equally but I know more of Xscape's music.I really don't remember many people listening to SWV like that in the South and Midwest besides the singles.
SWV was moreso the group my elder cousins listened to. I just think their music sounds so dated and corny. Downtown? :omf:
Ofc rain and can we came out when I was listening to music but I just wasn't really interested (outside of can we). Guess that's why the album flopped lolz. Ironically I did buy cook's solo project......that wasn't good btw
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

I've seen SWV live twice and they put on a great show.

I hardly know or remember any Xscape's songs.

In my experience, TLC and SWV were the 2 big girl groups in the 90s, then Xscape, 702, Brownstone etc were like B-tier groups. I would see their videos and hear Just Kickin It on the radio, that was pretty much it

Vonc2002

I honestly just tried to give those early SWV songs a try and I just can't make it thru :dead:
Zankou this when u cry is NIIICE tho, Ok coko and the pips

A lot of xscapes biggest songs are actually long drawn out ballads

If anything SWV had more of a energetic, sexier vibe to them

There was much more of a mix IMO

They were sexier and xscape gave the whole butch lesbian thing

If I'm not mistaken

I think that's what it is for me. I think those "uptempo" songs are so corny. I'm more of a ballad, SINGING type of music lover. Xscape just is the more vocally impressive group. Everyone can sing, the harmonies are better, etc. So I guess I can understand why someone would like swv. BOPS! Or whatever. Gimme a good groove with great vocals and harmonies over that any day

id def say xscape wasn't as reliant on one singer doin the heavy lifting

Tiny latocha and tamika all can go

Shade kandi all you want but her sound and voice are SYNONYMOUS with the xscape sound. I would compare her to Dawn in Danity Kane. If Dawn's voice isn't present,  it's not a DK song. Same thing with kandi

I absolutely love kandi as a person but that tone doesn't do it for me

Yeah it's distinctive but that's kinda where it begins and ends for me

SWV was not in TLC's league at all.  SWV & Xscape both met somewhere in the middle to me

yea. She has skill though and range but she just doesn't sound pleasant
She is important to their sound though. She's more of a T-Boz than Dawn though

Weak was bigger than all TLC songs on their debut albums that came out the same year. They were definitely in the league until CSC came out
