she probably meant the first that mattered

Tf?  Pat Cleveland and Sheila Johnson are legends.  You will not!  :watchit:

To be fair, Tyra must have the first solo cover, but she never said that in all the years I heard her mention GQ.

Sheila Johnson was the first black woman on the March issue of American Vogue.  Besides September, March is the biggest, most important issue of a fashion magazine.

Tyra never made the cover of American Vogue, FYI.  :letsmessfag:

Sheila, you 80's queen :feelinmyself:

She even slayed in Coming to America

r u serious :uhh:

no wonder she's not on these supermodel lists

i think every american supermodel has appeared on VOGUE at least once
american vogue.

Besides runway, Tyra was not high fashion like that.  She did lots of haute couture shows early on, but did not do a ton of print work and covers.  So, I would not consider her a supermodel.  :overit:

She got curvy and big boobs as she got older, so she slayed swimsuits and lingerie.  She became a household name due to commercial brands like Victoria's Secret and Cover Girl.  That is a big accomplishment.

Speaking of Covergirl, Tyra wasn't the first black woman with a contract with them either. :letsmessfag:

The beautiful Lana Ogilvie was.

Pat Cleveland, who has been modeling since the sixties.  She's a contemporary of Beverly and Iman, but she's been around even longer and still slays today.

Lie.  March has all the spring ads and fashions from those collections.

March has the spring ads, and September introduces the fall/winter ads.  Those are the two biggest, followed by the succeeding months April and October.

December is one of the smallest.
