I don't think the strike will be over by then with studios pushing theatrical releases back. I do think 'The Front Room' is prob going to be pushed back into next year since it's a theatrical release.

If the actors are still on strike in November she and none of SAG-AFTRA members can promote it.
love that sis is taking cues from quee kelly. get that holiday cheque !
I hope she had a chance to film the Netflix promo packaging before the strike.
Would also be nice to cross promote this with a Christmas single or EP since Hollywood is on strike

Prob not but hopefully she realizes during the strike that she really needs a new one. Crucial for box office & award season campaigning. Need someone that knows what to do for both especially how to work the international audience.
The excitement from multiple demographics on social media to her going back to movies last year shows she appeals to a broad audience. Just needs a dope communications team to do target marketing. She's ab to hit career highs so everything should be perfect.
Looking forward to seeing a trailer for this

Painkiller is really good. Maybe post-Queens her agent has figured out the right pathway for Brandy in terms of what to pitch her for. She's been with CAA for a while, but maybe it has clicked within the last year. I've always felt drama was a her strong suit. Niecy Nash did a nice pivot over the years of building up her resume & establishing herself with her drama roles.
A communications team that will build her presence in foreign markets to offset the racism & colorism that Asian countries are on when it comes to lead dark brown black actresses would be amazing. A presence build up of her in Brazil & other South American countries.
When A24 announced the front room the amount of men & women, diff ethnicities, nationalities & ages excited was telling. It's a gold mine for an older Black actress to appeal to a wide demographic & she has always needed to expand her audience.
I hope for Bran to accomplish her dreams especially before all the changes studios are trying to make permanent in hollywood. Ray J said they were in acting classes when they were kids so this is what she loves.

You're so right. Her team seems to be putting in the work, and I have a lot of faith in them to do wonders for Brandy's career. Agreed, drama is her strong suit.
Niecy Nash is definitely someone she should be learning from. I was never a big fan of hers but after the 1-2-3 punch of Getting On/ Scream Queens/ Claws I realized how slept on she was. Dope actress. Happy she's having her moment!
I'm with you on Brandy hiring a heavy-hitter communications team, she needs it. There should be a strong focus on targeting foreign countries like you said. That's how you become a true household name. I pray she takes a cue from Viola, she had a nice rollout for "The Woman King" and even visited some of those countries, it truly matters!
Looking forward to the films though!

Netflix dropped the first image & its not a rom com. With the first image releasing today trailer prob is coming next month.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/news/first-best-christmas-ever-image-reunites-best-friends-for-a-bitter-holiday/ar-AA1fZpEj
This holiday season is about to get a little bitter with the release of Best. Christmas. Ever! Netflix unveiled the first image from their latest holiday film which sees two best friends reunite for Christmas and resolve an old grievance that leaves one of them feeling like a lump of coal year after year. Leading the film are Heather Graham and Brandy Norwood, better known as just Brandy, who get together to celebrate in the first look at the festive film which premieres on November 16.
Best. Christmas. Ever! follows Charlotte (Graham) who receives a braggadocious newsletter from her old college bestie Jackie (Norwood) every year about how well her life is going, completely souring her mood around the holidays. Before Christmas rolls around again, however, she and her family find themselves on Jackie's snowy doorstep which presents Charlotte a golden opportunity. While they reunite and reminisce, she plans to find definitive proof that her old friend's life isn't as dreamy as she makes it seem. In her eagerness to expose Jackie, Charlotte nearly ruins the holiday for everyone and chooses instead to join forces with her to ensure everyone still has a good Christmas.
The holiday project is quite the contrast to Graham's other big upcoming project. She leads the gory and horny Lovecraftian horror film Suitable Flesh which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year and arrives in theaters and on VOD in October. Norwood, meanwhile, will reunite with her now King Charming Paolo Montalbán in Descendents: The Rise of Red which is still awaiting a release date. They're joined by Jason Biggs and Matt Cedeño as their respective husbands in Best. Christmas. Ever! with the rest of the cast rounded out by Wyatt Hunt, Abby Villasmil, and Madison Skye Validum.
So damn excited for the Best. Christmas. Ever!
Starting with the end of 2023 and next year will be big for Brandy

Today.com has an article today with exclusive set photos & a synposis of the movie.

Norwood will be showing off her Christmas spirit in spades in the film. She stars as Jackie, a Christmas fanatic who circulates an annual holiday newsletter that makes her old college friend Charlotte, played by Heather Graham, feel insecure.
The film takes place the week of Christmas and follows Charlotte as she and her family unexpectedly end up on Jackie's doorstep. Once there, she's eager to prove that Jackie's life can't be as perfect as her newsletter makes it seem.
"Heather's character just doesn't like Christmas. It makes her feel inadequate. And I think there's a lot of people that feel that way sometimes," the film's director Mary Lambert tells TODAY.com. "And then there are people like Brandy's character, who embrace the joy and the fun and the belief (of) the season."
Much like her character, Norwood has a positive presence in real life, Lambert says.
"She just exudes joy and happiness and when she walks in the room and when she's ready to be part of the group, everybody is just so happy. It's like a shining light ... She just sort of breathes you in and then she breathes you back out. And you're better when she breathes you back out," she says.
Finally
So she's singing in the movie
That's dope
When this year started I didn't think I'd be so excited for a christmas album and movie but here we are. Go brandy! Can't wait for the album

!!!!! I hope soon. I just watched some of this show called "PainKiller" Brandy needs to do something like that next!
Ray J said they were in acting classes when they were kids so Bran so this is what she loves.

I can't wait for the movies as well.

Next year as in next Xmas? Nah i honestly don't see that happening. That would be kinda backwards to me. I understand she can't promote right now but waiting a whole year after the movie to put it out isn't smart imo, especially if she's singing a song from the album. Like outside of us people would probably forget about the film a year later. Just my 2cents...

I just read how the studios & streamers are still playing hard with the SAG-AFTRA as recently as yesterday's negotiations. So much is changing for actors. When a deal is reach next year I hope Bran becomes really choosey with her role selection so she can quickly get to the big roles that will establish her as a serious actress/accomplish her acting dreams. Because based on what the SAG-AFTRA put out last night & what the Netflix's co-CEO said today studios/streamers basically don't see value in actors. Even when a deal is reached it seems like it will be a reoccurring situation of studios pushing hard on AI & streamers not wanting to change the payout to actors.

AI is taking over in so many sectors. In acting the studios want to scan the actors image then use it in sequels. So this strike will go into next year.

I remember a rumor from the early 00s that Ghan wanted to portray Wanda Jean Allen, the first black woman to be executed in the state of Oklahoma in decades for murdering her girlfriend. I don't know how accurate that was.

That would've been dope. I really hope Bran starts consistently doing drama & horror. I think the big thing with horror is that she has to be careful not to get suckered into doing many sequels because I think about what happened with Neve Campbell.
The studio didn't want to meet her demands eventually & I believe that was tied to them feeling like Neve not having major roles outside of Scream meant she needs Scream.
I just hope for Bran to get everything she wants from acting before so much changes in her industry.

I definitely would love to see Ghan transition into more dramatic roles as well. Make people take notice of her undeniable craft.
I feel you on Neve. I love her! I remember reading somewhere how hesitant she was about accepting the role of Sidney Prescott in fear of being typecasted due to her being in The Craft, but the studio and the powers that be reassured her that the role was different from Bonnie and she'd be the main character and hero of the series.
She was pretty good in Wild Things. I wouldn't mind also seeing Bran in neo noir type of films too.

Yea she always said she wanted to play a lesbian. Today she'd be cancelled for that :dead:
didnt she wanna play gladys knight or some singer in a biopic as well? i cant remember who
There was a rumored Diahann Carroll biopic. She did play Gladys Knight in that TV show though.

I felt bad for Neve back when reading how the studio lowballed her despite all her contributions to the Scream. I get it's a business but those studios & streamers really can get cutthroat.
I think Brandy can conquer horror if she does original IPs she could probably avoid the same thing that happened to Neve. Then branch out into other genres.
I recall hearing that it's best for an actor to secure "their thing" (i.e Meg Ryan - Romcoms, Tom - action, Viola - meaty roles, Vin - Fast & Furious) then that can help them later in their career. It was speculation that's why The Rock went back to Vin Diesel to do a non-FF 11/Hobbs & Shaw spinoff after 'Black Adam' didn't do well because 'Black Adam' was supposed to be his thing.

Maybe the last singing roles she'll do will be those movies. The fact that she agreed to do another horror movie is a step up because she was against doing horror again back in the day.

A lot of times when A24 posts trailers & stuff for other movies there will be comments asking about 'The Front Room.' There have even been comments in non-English asking about it, so this could be a big one for Bran. So you're so right that the anticipation is high.
If she going forward can get into a strictly drama/horror/action bag that would be amazing for Bran. An Equalizer/action/villain type projects I could see her in. I get though she has to work her way up to getting offered roles like that.
'Black Adam' was supposed to be The Rock's 'Mission Impossible' 'Top Gun' 'Bad Boys' so a staple project. It probably was hard for him to swallow his pride & go back to Vin for a FNF spinoff.

I agree with ALL OF THIS!!!!!!
I am so excited about this new role for her. Hopefully she continues working with A24, especially after they swept the Oscars this past year. I got teary eyed when Brendan Fraser won for The Whale. I've never seen the film, just clips of it on YouTube and he deservingly won that Oscar. Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeo, especially Michelle. With her being the first Asian woman to win a leading role Oscar is huge. I'm praying that Bran gets that recognition she deserves when the Awards season approaches.
Do you ever watch the '31 Days of Oscars' on TCM? They air it annually around January - April showing classic films that were either nominated or won Oscars. I've DVR'd several movies that I was dying to see. :plzstop:

I just watched the trailer for 'The Iron Claw' from A24 with the Zac Efron & Jeremy Allen White. The cinematography is always gorgeous with their productions.
I really love that with acting an actor can reach their peak at anytime in their career. It's really amazing seeing actors be able to get into their career highs at any age of their career. I love that! Yeah, I'm super obsessed with 31 Days of Oscars, I'm definitely turning into my parents. They used to watch TCM all the time and I'd always call them boring for watching films like Carmen Jones, Guess Who's Coming To Dinner, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, To Kill A Mockingbird, etc..and now look at me. Getting all excited when I see it on TV and I'm quick to DVR it.
They even aired the movie Last Summer (1969) which is a rare film that was rated X due to its graphic r*pe scene, but it was heavily edited. I watch the old Oscars clips on YouTube where Katharine Hepburn won her awards, but never attended them actual ceremony except once.
I saw a thumbnail for The Iron Claw; I haven't actually seen the trailer, but I heard positive things about.
During Brandy's 20th anniversary in the game, I believe it was Gladys Knight (correct me if I'm wrong) that said to Brandy the best is yet to come for her, and she's about to get so much recognition with The Front Room and I'm anticipating it. :flamebroiled:

!!!!! We've seen Bran in comedy, drama, teen slasher/thriller, but the anticipation for a psychological horror film is pretty high in my eyes.
Don't even get me started on Black Adam, that movie was atrocious. :plzstop: :plzstop:
:plzstop:
I knew I liked you, Mikey. Taste! That brings back so many memories from my childhood.

Her name on the poster :plzstop:. I remember someone asked her a few years ago something like why she didn't do a lot of movies & she said something like "I'm not a movie girl." Now look at her now with the biggest role so far in her career. Bran will get something whether it be a few of the majors nominations/awards or several on the indie award circuit.
Michelle Yeoh said she used to get offered roles mainly earmarked for Asian actresses now she's getting roles that do have an ethnicity specification.

OK so it looks like I have a classic cinema fanatic besides myself and possibly my bby Demetrius
My DVR list is at 84% because I have soooo many movies saved as well as shows that I haven't even got to watch yet. I thought that was Gladys that said that, I just wasn't sure. But I'm super excited for this movie and what doors are going to open for Ghan. I definitely want to see her in an action film playing some sort of femme fatale. :howfestive:

I thought it was okay, not great! It didn't aged too well, but I liked the character she was playing even if it was a version of herself. A very natural performance for Katharine.
You make me wanna rewatch GWCTD it's a great film with strong performances everywhere! What a beautiful film?! For that monologue to be Spencer's final words on film sends chills down my spine. I do not think either them was acting in that moment, he was honoring his work wife before it was too late!

Yes, I have. A highly entertaining campy role for Bette, I loved this era for her she's always been over the top but she really lets loose in some of those last films like "The Nanny" and "The Anniversary".
"Old, Acquittance" and "Now, Voyager" are two of my favorite Bette performances. Both of those roles touched me deeply, I can watch them over and over and never get bored with them. I'm not a big fan of remakes but Brandy would rock "Now, Voyager".

I'll have to check that out along with Bringing Up Baby, The Philadelphia Story, and Woman of the Year. I saw The African Queen which was pretty good, but baby that GWCTD is one of my all time favorite films. I really thought they went off script at the final scene just due to that connection they had. I loved it. I loved how the camera panned over to Beah Richards and Katharine Houghton while Spencer was delivering his speech. :stressed:

I'll have to check that out along with Bringing Up Baby, The Philadelphia Story, and Woman of the Year. I saw The African Queen which was pretty good, but baby that GWCTD is one of my all time favorite films. I really thought they went off script at the final scene just due to that connection they had. I loved it. I loved how the camera panned over to Beah Richards and Katharine Houghton while Spencer was delivering his speech. :stressed:
OMG! All three are classics. I love them all! Charming, heartwarming, and funny.

My go-to genres are Film Noire, Whodunits, Melodramas, and a few documentaries. I have a large appreciation for actresses like Kate Hepburn, Bette Davis, and Barbare Stanwyck because I find females more interesting to watch on film.
bbvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
BITCH, YASSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in your opinion, which Oscar winning film by Kate Hepburn did you enjoy the most?
Hard choice for me because they're all so different to me. Probably The Lion In Winter. Morning Glory is right behind it.
How was Morning Glory? I have yet to see it, but I've seen The Lion In
Winter, Guess Who's Coming To Dinner, and bits and pieces of On Golden Pond.
The ending on GWCTD always gets me because of Spencer's monologue basically telling Kate he loved her and her reaction was priceless. :ohwow:
I thought it was okay, not great! It didn't aged too well, but I liked the character she was playing even if it was a version of herself. A very natural performance for Katharine.
You make me wanna rewatch GWCTD it's a great film with strong performances everywhere! What a beautiful film?! For that monologue to be Spencer's final words on film sends chills down my spine. I do not think either them was acting in that moment, he was honoring his work wife before it was too late!

It was a very cute movie! Honestly it was alot better than last years Lindsay Lohan Christmas movie. Brandy really did a good job with the acting here.
But why not a single promo interview by the cast? That's honestly ridiculous.

No. 1 movie on Netflix! Go Brandy!
The script seems to have been written specifically so Brandy had a Christmas movie to act in. It's nice that they did it in a way where she isn't the star of the movie but instead the supporting cast and the heart of the film.
It sets her up as the takeover Christmas Queen this year nicely in a way that Mariah only wishes she could and also found a way to include Mariah at the same time with her blessing.
I enjoyed it a lot more then I thought I would

It was stated it's "No. 1 on Netflix". Netflix has a MAIN (and sub) chart for ALL their programming. And if the crown isn't number one then the question of whether this was is relevant.
You must be bored to feel the need to patronize someone over this. Find a hobby instead of bitching on here everyday leading up to the holidays.

I love that it's #1 especially since she's the lead. Her agent will likely use that as a talking point when trying to get her more roles. It shows she can lead a movie to success.
Vaughn needs to be on point for The Front Room promo so that can do well not just here but also in the international markets. We need horror podcasts/YouTube interviews, magazine interviews (Shape, Women's Health, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, Cosmo, etc., since she writes poetry any literature type magazines), appearances on cooking shows, a Brazil/Japan/and other market interviews/appearances, etc..

Accurate. She won. The roles are about to start pouring in. B9 might take a backseat lolz.
She's a leading movie lady and I hope she accepts this and starts moving as one. If a miracle happens and her team puts together a nice visibility rollout for
The Front Room and those box office numbers hit the scripts she's going to get are going to be so good.
I hope her team does what some actors teams have done when their client has a successful lead project and send Hollywood Reporter, Variety, or Deadline a victory lap fluff piece about the success of Best.Christmas. Ever!.

I think she should start a production company. I want her to do what she truly loves though and not what others want for her, so she might not be interested in running a production company. However, a Best Ever series over the course of years could generate millions via a first look deal for her.

ok. Maybe this is not related to CAA, but where was the promo the movie
The acting agent's job is to get the roles.
The agent like the manager don't make money until their client books.
They get a percentage of their client's deals.
The promo falls on the studio and the actor's team.
The Access Hollywood interview was likely booked by Netflix PR since it was a joint interview with Heather. Netflix has been heavy with the promo on their socials and may have billboards for the movie up in LA and other cities.
With Brandy being the lead that changes everything. It's just like The Front Room's success will lead to more opportunities for her since she's the lead. Her agent will use that as a talking point and that will attract more role offers and position him or her to secure her more roles.

And I'm not asking you to NOT like the movie. You absolutely can. But I should be allowed to acknowledge that the movie was not good. That isn't just the critics either. They are everyday people that also watched the movie. The critics also DO matter, because next time Queen goes to book a movie role, this will factor.

Yep it's a really big deal the movie is #1 for multiple days.
Descendants 3 should do good with the streams. I read an article the other day that Descendants 3 could lead to a sequel exploring the character that plays Brandy's daughter as well as her role as a mother and queen in more detail. That would be a good balance for her bc it keeps her legacy going with the younger generations.
I think it's a good situation that she's been able to prove leading power on streaming then turnaround and prove she can lead for a theatrical release with a thriller. It's a lot of hype surrounding
The Front Room on film websites including ppl inquiring about it sometimes when A24 posts updates about any of their upcoming releases.
I'm sorry. Good or bad. The movie is #1 worldwide on Netflix and that is no small feat for Brandy and her booking more and more roles in the near future.

Yep numbers are what matters. That's why an actor and their team will try to spin bad numbers (example The Rock and his antics over Black Adam flopping.
Brad Pitt's team wanting to shift blame away from him being the lead of 'Babylon' after it flopped last year.) On the flip side an actor and their team will use good numbers as a talk point (example Niecy Nash's team touting 'Dahmer's' Netlix numbers). That's why Brandy's team keeps the Cinderella numbers of 50 million viewers on her press release.
Brandy is facing colorism, ageism, racism, and sexism in her field so for her to push through with a #1 movie despite all that is a big deal. That metric will be used by her agent to secure her more roles.

The Front Room could potentially garner Oscar attention because Japan Gaga's read the script and immediately wanted to back the film. Brandy's latter part of her career is going to be more directionally focused on acting.
Quote"As far as we know, we are the number one distributor among major territories who have distributed the most Oscars best pictures – by number of titles – in the last decade or so," says Watanabe. "Tom Yoda, after he became CEO of Gaga [picked] six Oscar best pictures in the past – Slumdog Millionaire, King's Speech, The Artist, 12 Years A Slave, Green Book and CODA, mostly at script stage."
The company is preparing the release of the Daniels' Everything Everywhere All At Once for March 3 in Japan, which it picked up from A24 at last year's EFM. The film leads this year's Oscars nominations with 11 nods, including for best picture and best actress for Michelle Yeoh.

Brandy likely has cool story ideas so starting a production company would be really good for her. So having a production company at times can be beneficial for actors.
