Norwood will be showing off her Christmas spirit in spades in the film. She stars as Jackie, a Christmas fanatic who circulates an annual holiday newsletter that makes her old college friend Charlotte, played by Heather Graham, feel insecure.

The film takes place the week of Christmas and follows Charlotte as she and her family unexpectedly end up on Jackie's doorstep. Once there, she's eager to prove that Jackie's life can't be as perfect as her newsletter makes it seem.

"Heather's character just doesn't like Christmas. It makes her feel inadequate. And I think there's a lot of people that feel that way sometimes," the film's director Mary Lambert tells TODAY.com. "And then there are people like Brandy's character, who embrace the joy and the fun and the belief (of) the season."

Much like her character, Norwood has a positive presence in real life, Lambert says.

"She just exudes joy and happiness and when she walks in the room and when she's ready to be part of the group, everybody is just so happy. It's like a shining light ... She just sort of breathes you in and then she breathes you back out. And you're better when she breathes you back out," she says.

Painkiller is really good. Maybe post-Queens her agent has figured out the right pathway for Brandy in terms of what to pitch her for. Niecy Nash did a nice pivot over the years of building up her resume & establishing herself with her drama roles.

A communications team that will build her presence in foreign markets to offset the racism & colorism that Asian countries are on when it comes to lead dark brown black actresses would be amazing. A presence build up of her in Brazil & other South American countries.

When A24 announced the front room the amount of men & women, diff ethnicities, nationalities & ages excited was telling. It's a gold mine for an older Black actress to appeal to a wide demographic & she has always needed to expand her audience.

I hope for Bran to accomplish her dreams especially before all the changes studios are trying to make permanent in hollywood. Ray J said they were in acting classes when they were kids so Bran so this is what she loves.

I'm with you on Brandy hiring a heavy-hitter communications team, she needs it. There should be a strong focus on targeting foreign countries like you said. That's how you become a true household name. I pray she takes a cue from Viola, she had a nice rollout for "The Woman King" and even visited some of those countries, it truly matters!

I remember when Viola Davis' team sent her there last year to grow her profile in South America. Her team setup at least one event so she could learn about the Afro Brazilian culture. They loved her.
