QuoteHere's movie director Quentin Tarantino. You know, the guy we have to thank for classics like Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Django Unchained, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, both Kill Bill volumes... etc.

Tarantino is reportedly worth somewhere around $120 million. And apparently... he doesn't share that fortune with his mom. Why? It all goes back to negative comments she made about his writing ambitions when he was a child.
Appearing on The Moment podcast, Tarantino shared a childhood story about how his mother used to side with his teachers after they called him out for writing screenplays in school.
According to Tarantino: "In the middle of her little tirade, she said, 'Oh, and by the way, this little 'writing career," with the finger quotes and everything. This little 'writing career' that you're doing? That shit is over."
"When she said that to me in that sarcastic way, I go, 'OK, lady, when I become a successful writer, you will never see penny one from my success. There will be no house for you. There's no vacation for you, no Elvis Cadillac for mommy. You get nothing. Because you said that.'"
As for a true emergency? "Yeah. I helped her out with a jam with the IRS," Tarantino admitted. "But no house. No Cadillac, no house."
He added, "There are consequences for your words as you deal with your children. Remember there are consequences for your sarcastic tone about what's meaningful to them."
Tarantino is absolutely right about that. Negative comments parents make can have a lifelong impact on their children's lives — no matter how small they may seem to those hurling them. Consider this another reminder that you should always support your kids' dreams, no matter how far-fetched they may seem.

That's what she gets tbh

I LOVE this :plzstop:
I agree with him.
Yeah, that's wack. I can promise he's an insufferable human being to be around.
It's one thing to prove your parents wrong. It's another thing to punish them for raising you the best way they knew how (absent of abuse). Can't fault his mother for feeling like screen writing wasn't a promising career move, cause she likely had no example of what that looked like.
Was she suppose to let him not focus and get bad grades because he MIGHT be a screen writer. Kinda unrealistic from a traditional parent standpoint
Jdjdjdjdndn Yh Uma did condemn him

Sorry but I'm not mad at it. They probably arent terribly close anyway. It's a parent's job to pour into their children. Pour love, pour encouragement, and just all around empower them. U dont get to reap the benefits of sumn u said wouldnt happen
Ion know why this turned me on

what's wack is being condescending towards things you know your child is passionate about :udontlookok:
She could've addressed the bad grades differently but she wanted to be a bitch about it. Why exactly does she want to be a part of his "little" writing career now? Keep the same energy :woohoo:
lmfao not these seasoned parenting experts popping up in here :dead:
d
Doesnt take a parenting expert to know you're not supposed to belittle your children
The world is hard enough on people and their dreams. Dont need to be hearing that negative shit from people that are supposed to be supporting u. Dont have to be a parent to know that. That's how anyone should be to anyone in their life that they value.

I'm not saying he's obligated to support her. What I am saying is that he's damn near 60. His mother likely came from a generation where script writing wasn't a conceivable career. Nor did she likely have the psychological competency and sensitivity that parents are expected to have today. So to hold that against her is corny IMO
My mama stayed crushing my dreams and ambitions but I still give her a lot of money now even though I'm not a millionare.

I'm a bit too old for this cancel culture thing and Tarantino is old enough to be my grandfather so he should know better.
Cutting your parents off is a very white thing to do.
