Oh my
:omgwatshappening:
They promote it as First black woman to wear 30 million diamond necklace.
But now South Africa has criticism.
Tiffany has never been clear about the origins of the diamond. Many have claimed the 128-carat stone is a "blood diamond."What is known is that it was discovered in 1877 in the Kimberly colonial diamond mine in South Africa, and later purchased by Tiffany founder Charles Tiffany."Blood diamonds" are mined in conflict zones and sold (often illegally) to private buyers, funding warlords and supporting unethical mines that often use child labor and slavery, Unilad reported. Mines in South Africa were known for producing blood diamonds (https://www.google.com/url?q=https://medium.com/@MthiyaneShandu/blood-diamonds-a-south-african-history-da4910744df4&sa=D&source=hangouts&ust=1629907744505000&usg=AFQjCNF6f2MoZucdymySb8CJEO2VLFlRcw).
"He was on a song called Diamonds that was literally about blood diamonds, she did an entire album as a 'tribute' to Africa. They've both posed themselves to be pro-Black revolutionaries using the aesthetics and rhetoric. Any and all criticisms are justified and warranted," tweeted AshleyStevens @The_Acumen.

They got a point but I don't think most people know the origins of the Tiffany diamond.
I wonder if they will respond since they claim to be against conflict diamonds:
Does Tiffany offer conflict-free diamonds? Yes, we have taken rigorous steps to assure that conflict diamonds do not enter our inventory. As global leaders in sustainable luxury, Tiffany & Co. is committed to sourcing natural and precious materials in an ethical and sustainable manner. We have a zero-tolerance policy toward conflict diamonds, and source our diamonds only from known sources and countries that are participants in the Kimberley Process.
nhnhgngnfgx
the irony is their most prized diamond IS a blood diamond :dead:
Why is Tina responding :plzstop:
With this revelation comes a pledge by Tiffany to donate $2 Million (https://www.hotnewhiphop.com/boosie-badazz-says-lil-uzi-vert-must-have-s250mil-net-worth-to-buy-s24mil-diamond-news.133494.html) to Historically Black Colleges and Universities, but not everyone is impressed with Jay-Z and Beyoncé's display. The public was quick to point out the ongoing scandals involving blood diamonds and the exploitation of African workers. Critics stormed the internet by the thousands to call out the billionaire couple, and after The Grio reposted images, Beyoncé' mother, Tina Lawson, jumped in the comments to call out naysayers.
"How many of you socially conscious activist own diamonds ? I thought so !" she wrote. "Well guess what did you go to try to check to see where the diamond came from? Probably not ! So when you guys get engaged you won't have a diamond (https://www.hotnewhiphop.com/future-surprises-dess-dior-with-massive-diamond-ring-post-valentines-day-news.127137.html) you gonna put on a sterling silver band And you better check out where it came from and the origin of where came from and why you add it check out the calls for the Leather that you weird because they made it came from another country to to ban and not buy diamonds right because your righteous !!"
Not comparing the average wedding ring diamond to a damn Hollywood mansion on a chain.:plzstop:
A two million donation is just sad when it comes to a big company like that. You can't tell me that Bey and Jay didn't get paid more for that campaign. It's peanuts to them. I appreciate the effort but when one diamond is worth 30 million dollars at least donate a symbolic 30 million.
(It's always tricky; I mean it's a good cause but they also will get more attention from consumers...so people will buy more products because they like the philanthropy part. So this campaign probably makes them 2 million in the first minute of posting. Great marketing.)
They're so corny ugh

Some of the Bey criticism is a bit excessive, but she and Jay do seem to rep hard for the Pro-Black aesthetic without actually staying true to it in reality. But are they the only ones? No.
In general, they're just CORNY.

I doubt that they enforce this retroactively. They probably stopped buying them when blood mines became known in the western world, or they are lying.
Just like big auction houses claim that Greek/Egyptian/other antiquities they sell, came into their collection before the UNESCO cultural heritage laws.
