Title: Rank these pop diva staples from MOST to LEAST iconic/impactful to today's music
Post by: SouravMay on September 12, 2021, 01:55:24 PM
AALIYAH (JULY 2001)
Timeless sleek production, that marked the pre-dawn of what we call "alternative R&B" today.
Artists inspired by this album: Drake, Brandy, Cassie, Justin Timberlake

MISSUNDAZTOOD (NOVEMBER 2001)

Introduced the Rock-infused sound to mainstream female pop music. She put Linda Perry and Scott Storch on.
Artists inspired by this album: Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry

FULL MOON (FEBRUARY 2002)
This album is called the vocal bible and an absolute staple in modern day singing.
Artists inspired by this album: India.Arie, Diddy-Dirty Money, Sean Garrett, Ariana Grande

STRIPPED (OCTOBER 2002)
Feminist, sex-positive, "woke" album, before it was a thing. Anti slut-shaming staple and blueprint for many pop stars to come.
Artists inspired by this album: Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga

Xtina really stole Pink's producers for her album, but made a better body of work and more lasting era.

I will says from IMPACT in today's music:

#1 STRIPPED
#2 FULL MOON / #2 AALIYAH
#4 MISSUNDAZTOOD (the singles were great, but I don't think the album really shook the table like the others)

Stripped is like... THE quintessential coming of age album.. it's the most influential era here me thinks

Full Moon & Aaliyah are the most influential musically.

so like... whichever stance you take.

Nobody cares about st!nk's album despite it being the biggest tho

If we're talking just "music", Fullmoon is for sure the most influential. Red is the most "ICONIC" overall though.

And agree with others. Stripper wasn't an iconic album. Just an iconic "era". Honestly, none of Xtincts "albums" are genuinely iconic or influential. Nobody references her mess.

There's no way to rank this IMO  :dead:

we gotta stop stuff like this. There are so many great conversations that can be had about music without the constant comparisons and unnecessary belittling  :dead:
