The Afrodisiac single was released 17 years ago on the 24th
The b-sides on the singles released included
Sirens 🚨
https://youtu.be/9PqbOX6sOxw
And Noddin Off
https://youtu.be/MmvZsGPGGpg
The b-sides>>>>>>>>>
Woo! What a dumb decision to leave those two off the actual album
The b sides are sick
The video makes me cringe but I love this damn song
I still like the demo version from 2003 too... but the final edit is more polished
Where's the demo version?
This song is fuckin AMAZING
Melodic gold. Her ear >>>>>>

Loved this song from the start :flamebroiled:
But Nodding Off wasn't a b-side of the single. It was a bonus track on the album.
Should have been the first single released from the album, with a better video

Nah, there was no Afrodisiac CD single with Nodding Off as a b-side track. You can check it on Discogs.
It was included on the Japanese version of the album and later on the European re-release of the album.

Afrodisiac video was done by the same guy that did the Best Friend video. I think Brandy wanted a "She's a bitch" Missy Elliott vibe but sexier and it just doesn't hit the mark for some.
I still enjoyed it for what it was.
I loved the Afrodisiac video overall. The song saved the video.

Listening to Aaliyah's music on Spotify these last few weeks has reminded me how intricate and textured Timbaland's production style is, and I've always felt it lacking on this song/album
Afrodisiac is a dope song. Definitely different than anything I ever heard
Brandy should've kept going with Tim and released another alber in 2006/2007. I would've loved to hear her on similar tea to what Nelly Furtado and JT were doing in 06 tbh

! If Tim and Bran had really locked in after Afro I don't think he would have even signed all those female artists (Keri, Lyrica, Tink etc) it obvious he's been trying to recreate the chemistry he had with Li.

Very true and I remember when VIBE magazine shaded Brandy for the same reason in their magazine back then. But I don't think Brandy and Timbaland wanted to "recreate" the chemistry he had with Aaliyah per se. Afrodisiac, sonically and vocally doesn't sound anything like what Aaliyah would've done to me. It's Brandy.
The song that turned my head tbh

Yeah it's kinda like the JT/Timbo effect! They didn't really find they groove until FSLS era... so I'm sure if Brandy ain't move on so quick she would've been apart of the JT & Nelly Furtado Timbo comeback

This!!! I wasn't wowed by any of the beats. I liked what he gave her for the human era that she left off anyway.
. Should I go, focus, and I tried are top tier and some of her best work ever. Tim's production fits Brandy's voice perfectly. But on the other hand he also gave her some trash like Turn it up and sadiddy.

That might be true, but those tracks still cant compete with his work with aaliyah, ginuwine, and JT. Focus is very repetitive to me which almost ruins the song. It goes on too long.
Every artist has one or two fun records on each album, and thats what brandy tried with those two songs. I think the fact the album laxks real club bangers is what makes them stick out in a bad way. Brandy takes herself too seriously. She could benefit from more fun records like sadiddy and turnitup IMHO. I personally live for her beat boxing on turnitup and wish tge general public could have seen that side of her.

Idk, when Bran does up tempos they usually feel corny. It's usually the lyrics that turn me off from her upbeat songs.
I feel her pocket is mids and Afro had tons of them.

Thats true. She does really well with her mids. I just believe she's overdone them. And no artist should fill their album with one sound thats lazy and boring, especially for a vet like brandy. Thats why i always gravitate towards pop artist because they always have a good balance of ballads, mids, and bangers.
I hope her next album is more uptempo and more hip hop ratchet. I want her sound to reflect the happy space she's in right.

She had nearly a full album recorded with Robert before they split up...

Ok now lets dig in , correct how can you shoot a video where you have to lip to the verses and the chorus and you remember nothing. Next thing , how on earth cant she go to the video director, who I believe was Lil X or Hype Williams and ask for the video and she either leaks it herself or at the least rips the audio because the director has to have had a copy of it to film? These stories around the song like oh Tim doesn't have it he lost it etc is annoying and far fetched and I am sick of the lies :uhh: :usuresis: :19k: :plea: :usureuok: :unbothered:

How she shoot a video and she cnt even remember any lyrics to the song? And yes I saw that article
There's a copyright reason why she was pretending she didn't know it ... she has that shit locked 🔒 up
i love the video and the song. I think brandy can be sexy. They public didnt want her to be .. they wanted her to be that 15 yr old girl singing i wanna be down.. also AFRO the single was a HIT everywhere else but the US .. so thats a book

Does anyone have the original 2003 version of Turn It Up ... the vocals are different from the album version
Do you mean the one that starts with Timbo saying ,,it's been a long time..." on the intro? I think I have it on my harddrive.
I'm not sure about Tims parts but there's a version where she sings it with different vocals
The Turn It Up Remix feat Gravy had the vocals from the original version which I already have but I want that version without him too and I can't find it on my hard drive
i may have it let me look
its one where its like a mixtape and brandy is speaking on it in the beginning she says something like
DJ Hitters ... SUCKASor something to that effect ..i think

For some reason it always felt like she was blackballed at radio during this time. It didn't matter how much i texted, called, or email. Her music was being ignored. Thats very interesting how afro was doing everywhere else.
2019 is when i knew we were about to get an amazing album whenever it was ready. She started working on b7 with Camper in 2018 and then in 2019 her vocals for the stage started really getting fucking INSANE
Listen to this version of Afrodisiac she did in Houston. 2019:
https://youtu.be/Qws-CiUmqe4
Between 19 and 24 seconds in. You might need headphones to catch it but the way she sang the second part of the word "Afrodisiac" and just sang "disi-ACK-YEeeea" is just sickening. She was hearing and executing things I'd never heard before
:plzstop:
She was in her fucking BAG, pre-recorded and otherwise. Background vocals, harmonies, layering and live band arrangements as well.
