super offensive

to compare an industry where these men are paid millions of dollars to voluntarily go on a field and do what they love
to our enslaved ancestors who had no choice but to get out and work for free

did he not think about the fact that low key referring to these men as slaves is wrong?
you're basically implying they dont have the mental capacity to realize what's happening to them (the "slavery")

this is their wake up call huh? now that you've made all your money

referring to black american people as slaves in any way isn't acceptable.
there's other ways to get your point across. work on creativity and articulation instead of leaning on slavery all the time.
but, woke!

There are parallels though. The team "owners", coaches, all the execs being old racist white men making Black men play on the football "field" and they're in control and making the most money.
But still the fact that it's something then players WANT to do and have fun doing it and get paid just overshadows everything. Slaves wouldn't even be "slaves" if they we're getting paid, having fun, not getting beaten and killed etc

right.

The parallels are there but this is nothing that hasn't been said before and it's not slavery when it's voluntary and compensation is involved

So expected, lazy and tired.

We are all "slaves" to a larger system in some way . Chasing the "American dreams" and all of that other mess. This isn't unique to the football field . Corporate America in general says hola.

But I would never compare myself to an actual enslaved person who had no rights to earn money, own their own property or have any type of control of their destiny.

i bet the ones rooting this slavery comparison mess on are the same ones who say they're tired of "slave movies" being pushed out

"we're more than slaves! they know wat they be doin!"

.....its not OK for us to continue to tell the stories of our enslaved ancestors and to never let their trauma and pain be forgotten
but we can casually and repeatedly use them to illustrate points and call each other slaves.
