I think all skin tones get "food-ized" in some way though
I def refer to men as chocolate and vanilla sometimes
It's not to demean them but in a way it def is objectifying and sexualizing them
I swear every time I watch Fox soul and see Claudia SANDWICHED between funkys chocolate self and the other vanilla one I be like u lucky bitch
That bitch needa go outside
This screams i don't nothing better to focus on.
This right here is some tea .

I def feel this is the issue sometimes ..maybe not specifically for this girl in the OP but def for others
Some people don't like being called dark skinned in any way . It took me a while to understand why it's such a bad thing to some people or why they shy away from it or cringe about it ..
Dark/brown skin is beautiful. Sexy . It's our gift from Africa .
We have all colors in my family and my grandparents never made me feel any color was better than another . We are just different . But I understand
They may be projecting and not even know it . But I mean we live in a very anti-black world so I can't even blame people for having what appears to be deep rooted issues and sensitivity with this topic .
Especially unambiguously black dark skinned women.
I mean I guess she kinda has a point but it's not that serious
if you're dark, you're dark. It's not an insult.

I think it's an insecurity
But it's an understandable insecurity
Who knows what she's experienced because of her skin color
Or what she's been called
Like the shit was birthed out of countering anti-Blackness, with something deliciously pleasant, edible, scrumptious. If somebody wants to say dark skinned, they say dark skinned. It's barely the euphemism she's TRYING to sell it as.

it is kinda calling someone dark in a fun way
Mdndjdjdjfmfn just like calling someone "redbone" or "vanilla scoop" or "light bright " is a fun way of describing a lighter skinned person in many places ... ( when it's not intentionally being used to be hurtful and offensive )
I think the issue is the negative connotation associated with "dark" that some people hold . Which is understandable
If that's taken away then she probably wouldn't be offended by someone calling her "dark in a fun way" at all. But that's where her personal tea comes into play .
I get it. Just stick to regular compliments. You don't have to REMIND someone they're dark by saying shit like you're dark, melanated, chocolate, Black Queen, etc. I can get it how it feels backhanded.
I don't think there's anything wrong with calling someone chocolate or whatever but I agree some people definitely PATRONIZE black women .
"omg ur dark skin!!!! wow wow wow ur SKIN. it's so .. dark and lovely wow wow wow :ohwow: dark skin girls are def prettier than lighter skin girls! Sorry gotta say it !!! "
Very cringe and counterproductive .
Tokyo Vanity said something similar about the acronym BBW. She said you don't have to highlight that she's big in the compliment. Stick to the regular beautifuls and gorgeouses like you do the size 6 girls. I get them.

but some people often attach peoples physique to their overall attractiveness
Like if I see a super slim or super thick guy and it works really well for them I'm thinking "that nice slim piece of chocolate" or that "thick ass vanilla scoop nigga"
Chndhdhfnfnfndndnn
Maybe that person in question has insecurities about their slim-ness or thickness but to me it's beautiful and attractive
But obviously if any of those descriptions are triggering and/or offensive to them I wouldn't say it to them . It just comes down to respect at that point
If they were calling her caramel delight or some shit she wouldn't flinch.

Meh. Only if you're insecure.
In that case "I love your skin tone" would be backhanded to a person who doesn't want to be reminded that they're dark. Melanated Black Queen is quite literally something I see proud women wear on TShirts. Again being called chocolate is only offensive to an insecure ho

Highlighting dark skin, being proud of being melanated, all come from digging ourselves out of anti-blackness and proclaiming, recognizing, reminding us, that it's attractive. Someone who finds a problem with that has other shit to work on. I don't know I feel like being called "big" is a lil different than that

Nnnnn well then that calls for you to ask "hey do you like being dark skinned?" before you tell someone you got a love jones for their skin tone. Let's not act like some good BLACK skin doesn't hit differently than some other mess. What if it's the actual SKIN that's popping and glowing, strikingly?

i mean I wouldn't stop myself from saying it
But generally I don't go around telling people " your dark skin is so beautiful" or "your caramel skin is so beautiful "
Honestly I'd say "ur skin is beautiful "
And leave it at that. Pretty sure they're aware of what skin tone they are , or at least what skin tone they're widely perceived to be .
But if I actually know someone personally I'd def get more descriptive . If they told me "umm excuse me I don't identify as chocolate or dark My skin is caramel frap with two milks " I'd say ok and call them that or just say nothing at all moving forward
