telling someone they look like someone else u know or a especially a well known celeb?
i think some are super safe and more likely to be universally accepted as compliment
like telling a woman she reminds u of halle berry or naomi campbell
or a guy that he reminds u of denzel or morris chestnut or something
but then there are some where u just never know
even if u personally feel that celeb/personality is beautiful
sfsfsfsfsf
im super careful about that
its kinda one of those things where impact def overrules ur intent
wow so true nfnfnf
nah its easy
if the look-a-like is questionable, i'll just say " you look like a cute version of ________ "
never fails (offends)
thats still iffy to me
if i have to basically follow it up with "ur the cute version tho"
i probably wouldnt compare them to that person to begin with.
i would feel rude. "u look like this person who i clearly dont think is cute, but dont worry - ur cute tho".
:plzstop:
sfsfsfsfsfsf sounds like something youd say ABOUT someone , not necessarily directly TO them.
eh, maybe that's just projection/personal fear of yours
youre basically calling them cute. literally never had anyone be offended by it.
That's the thing ...
it's one of those things where someone won't actually tell u they're offended .
very few people are gonna say "excuse me?" Most will probably smile and nod and keep it moving.
and it's also unnecessarily low key referring to the celeb in question as unattractive / ugly. It's just not very positive .
If I'm complimenting someone i want it to be devoid of negativity , with no "buts" involved . I shouldn't have to explain or proactively defend the intent of a compliment .
If I have to do all that I'm gonna just say nothing at all.
Or just simply say "you're so cute" without the extra stuff.
I agree with Af' tbh.
Unless the person is generally regarded as attractive, it can be taken the wrong way.
My sister showed me a picture of her and my other sister recently and I was like 'Oh [other sister] kinda looks like Bree Runway here' and my sister was like 'Erm yeah, she'd kinda be offended if you actually told her that'.
I was like 'Oh...' :dead:

I think it's those celebs who fall in a "midpoint" of sorts
Like they're not universally regarded or pushed as unattractive/undesirable , but they're not universally regarded as beauty kwees either
So The way it's taken can go either way
There are these two ugly tubby short Indian guys at work and I call them twins.
One off them called me Ms Coconut today because I sound "white" and the Ms. cos they think I'm confirmed gay because they noticed I had a facial and mask treatment during the weekend and my has been glowing all week.
Nah, like I know this girl who looks like Chloe Bailey and I kept it to myself. One day she brought it up how she gets tired of people telling her how much they look alike
and I was like oh yeah, I kinda see it

This Indian guy at my job said me and my coworker who's afro-Latina look like twins . Was kinda bold but he's very familiar and playful with both of us so I can see why he was comfortable saying it
We embraced it though . I actually saw the likeness and she's a cutie IMO so I wasn't offended. We call each other "twinzy" all the time now .
Was still very ballsy of him telling black people they look alike but he's one of those people who is likable enough for u to just take it for what it is .
And She's one of those afro-latinas who are super duper pro black . Which I love . So we here >><< on so many levels . :scrumptious:

Well a curry roti value meal to u too
I find that insulting to receive and say not because of how attractive the compared person is or isn't, but I'd want someone I'm seeing to feel unique, and see me as the same.
Might as well call me a piece of fcking chocolate

thats a good point too
it kinda takes from someones individuality
vbvvvvv im sorr' thats just insecurity
if someone telling you that you favor someone else or that they favor you makes you feel "not unique", you have deeper issues
that's really rude to psychoanalyze someone like that oph.
If I were u I'd Be mindful of that. Even if someone does have "deeper issues " it's nothing to lightly kii about .
There's nothing wrong with someone wanting to feel unique and special . Not everyone wants to be told they're a clone of someone else they don't even know personally.
I really don't have an issue with it but I'm reasonable enough to see where someone else is coming from.
obviously i wouldn't be kiing in someone's face about it. didn't think that needed to be clarified.
and yes, ppl wanna feel unique. my point is, if someone merely saying that you favor someone takes away from that, that's NOT reasonable. hence me saying there are deeper issues there. aint nobody said nothin about no clones.
u did kinda say it to him tho luv
ton said himself that he wants to feel unique
And u come with this "must be insecurity... deeper issues lolz" mess .
Maybe u missed the part of his post where he expressed that he personally feels that way too . im just saying be mindful ... that's not cool
Try to be more sensitive and understanding
