Eh, I'm sure this was just an anniversary type gift from his coworkers and not some mess from the CEO. Tanya and Carl chipped in to help him celebrate his 27th year. I like his energy but this is out of context

well he's referring to "loyalty" and "the company" so this had to come from management.
Management ultimately represents the company as very few people on the "frontline" have direct contact with CEOs of large corporations dnndndnd
So I don't think it's out of context . Just as he said, it was a reward from his job for his loyalty .
i mean what is he supposed to get?
A lot of people are upset with him being happy with his reward and think he should "want more" in general - not only from the reward but from his job choice overall. but i think that's unfair
We don't know his story in full . Maybe he has mental challenges and this is the only type of place he can work
Maybe he has a serious criminal record and they overlooked that and gave him an opportunity anyway .
We don't know why he's so grateful . But it's Amazing how some people are looking at him sideways instead of the company fnnfnf

Um, well the company I work for, for your 20th anniversary, you get an all expense paid trip for 2 (including airfare) to one of the Hard Rock Resorts (Hollywood, Puerto Rico or the DR) for 4 days/ 3 nights plus $500 in spending money. For 25 years, it's even more. Maybe because it's an odd year (27) they don't give a major gift until you reach 30, but I hope he's gotten more than candy over all these years.

These are all assumptions and I still think it's out of context :) And you don't need direct contact with the CEO for standard, milestone awards to be shipped to your location girl. So just as I said, even if Carl and Tanya were the shift supervisors, a gift from them is hardly a "reward from his company."

What kind of companies do you all work for where you aren't appreciated for your tenure? A "Years of Service" program falls under the "Benefits" category that most of you said you care about.

I know 27 isn't an immediate milestone but they would've been better off not giving any gift at all if this is what they were gonna do. Hopefully they're paying him well.
It's the thought that counts not the monetary value of a gift. Some people ain't gonna give you shit, not ever. You could go to the moon and back. We live in a cold world.

but companies are under no obligation, imo.
this goes without saying . You're stating the obvious
Their only "obligation" is to make sure they follow labor laws and that you get ur check . This is a fact so theres really no need for you to add "imo".
But there's a flip side to that. An employee could also say "I'm here to do the bare minimum just to keep my job and nothing thats not part of my job description . So don't ask lolz"
......And guess how that employee would be labeled .
Also, guess how long that employee would keep their job with that attitude ...although technically the minimum is all that is required of them.
Just as it's expected that employees take pride in their job and to keep a SMILE! on their face even if they're performing tasks that are clearly tedious and stressful , it's not an unreasonable expectation for employees to wanna feel valued in return. And yes, showing that appreciation does include going above and beyond sometimes .

their immediate supervisor or corporate?
This is a scam, he's milking this and he hasnt even made it clear that he doesnt work for Burger King. He works for an agency called HMS Host that assigns him jobs in various fast food joints and concessions. A coworker OR shift supervisor from each job grabbed whatever was in the junk cubby in their cubicle, to pitch in and put something together for him. Its in Las Vegas there's a good chance all of his assignments can be in the same building. Regal Cinemas (movie ticket and Reeses) , Starbucks (the mug), AVIS car rental pens, etc.
It didnt come from Burger King corporate because he doesnt work for them. And here's their statement
Quote"The Burger King brand and its many franchisees nationwide are committed to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of the thousands of people serving across a wide range of roles. Following review with this location's franchisee, we've learned that this video depicts a Team Member in receipt of a peer-to-peer reward in recognition of a short-term positive performance/experience."
It didnt come from HMS Host corporate because he mentions his "coworkers" in the video you posted, which aligns with this statement
(https://i.ibb.co/QXRrGKC/hms.png)
Here is an outline of the peer-to-peer (coworker, supervisor, manager, janitor) recognition incentive:
QuoteFor its part, HMSHost, the food service company Ford works for Burger King through, is actually the party responsible for the viral gift.
"The goodie bag Mr. Ford received was something we call a Shout Out, which is recognition and appreciation from his peers," an HMSHost spokesperson told TODAY in a statement Tuesday.
Quote"HMSHost is pleased that its award-winning 'Shout Out' employee recognition program was used to celebrate one of our long-tenured and dedicated associates, Kevin Ford, for his teamwork and great attitude. These 'Shout Outs' reflect our core values and dedication to guest service and offer our employees a way to celebrate each other every day. The 'Shout Out' program differs from HMSHost's company service anniversary program, which celebrates employee tenure milestones. (not no random ass 27th year)
This recognition of Mr. Ford by another employee captures the essence of our culture of appreciation, caring and inclusion and reflects the best of our company — our people. Mr. Ford is a valued associate and member of an honored group of employees that have worked for us for many years.
so as I suspected, the niggas around the office threw this in the bag, it was not shipped from ANY corporate
