Gfgggggdz
As if either of them are huge superstar groups
I would say they are about equal in the amount of chart success
They don't have enough to compete with anyone.
I mean, I was going to disagree but Total actually does have more hits than 702
I almost forgot Kima was a part of Total. Just there self. :plzstop:
Quote from: Nine on May 06, 2023, 11:44:31 AMI mean, I was going to disagree but Total actually does have more hits than 702
They do
I was just listening to Total's 2nd album yesterday, while I do prefer their music over 702 neither group really has enough "hits" to do anything. But they both have songs we all love.
Slight edge to Total but they really excel when you throw in their features. LL Cool J's Loungin, several Biggie tracks and Foxy Brown's I Can't.
Yeah Loungin with LL is one of the best total songs anyway. It's an iconic summer song and they harmonized really well. I never thought total sounded good as a group but I liked their songs
702 had a more cohesive and blended sound and their lead singer gives them extra points, much like coko does with SWV. I prefer 702 but this ain't really a fight worth having
702 has bigger hits than Total.
Y'all sleeping on 702
They each have about 7 solid singles to play including features. 702/Meelah on her own has features with Missy and Faith

But fuck both of those groups. They both dont have a catalogue of 20 hits. And I wouldnt tune in.
If Verzuz really wants to reel me back in, its gonna have to be Nicki vs Kim. Or I'd even tune in for Fantasia versus Jazmine. I think both those would slay.

702's discography is superior and stronger. Total is by far one of the most forgettable acts from the 90s. Kissing You and Loungin are great, but they have more clout from their hip hop / Bad Boy affiliation.
They served 3 East Coast lipstik lezzies in a group, while 702 was the girl group peer to Bran,Mon,and Liyah with quality music to match. Total did nothing special but coo over hip hop knock

But then it was like Puff took awhile to sign Meelah, and of course everything got back to normal. Meelah was rocking with us. We had recorded a few songs with her. Puff waited too long, and 702, they had come back to the table with a deal, and Meelah went with that deal. We recorded some songs with Meelah that we still have. When I say it was fire, it was fire! Got it. I grew up in Jamaica and never heard any Total songs. I knew of their existence, but just didnt hear any of their songs until much later when I loved to Canada in my late 20s. I def heard Where My Girls At, Get It Together and Steelo though. And I Still Love U and Star I heard quite a bit as well.
On a Verzuz battle, based on the audience, Total would likely win, the same way Eve had the bigger mainstream hits, but Trina had the audience rockin / the hood classics. But 702 still does it for me due to their global reach.

What about Us
Kissin You

Kissin You
Kissin You will always be THAT SONG for me... but trippin, what about us, sitting home are all a close 2nd
What about us and no one else are actually my favorite total songs. Trippin is cool. I definitely heard their music and saw their videos, but what do you expect with bad boy being as big as it was?
But I've always been about vocals and they just don't cut it. Unique tones and that's it
yea Versuz ain't about vocals so.
and 702 barely had them. Only Meelah could sing. At least 2 people in Total could carry a tune. And Kima sings better than Irish.

and to be quite frank, 702's hits are more memorable today
In the states? No they are not
Can't You See alone. If for nothing else, Biggie's verse
Wasnt gonna say anything, sis just talking. The only 702 songs people know are Steelo and Where My Girls At.
And those 2 songs are bigger and more memorable for me than anything Total has done. And I'm not talking about their features. Maybe I'm ignorant, but school me. What are Total's 3 biggest hits? (not the features).
need more than 2

IMO KIMA IS THE BETTER SINGER OUT OF THE THREE. KEISHA SOUNDS PLEASANT AND PAM VICE IS NASALLY AND BORDERLINE ANNOYING. NONETHELESS, THEY ALL HAVE DISTINCTIVE VOICES.

Misha can sing about as good as everyone I've heard in Total. Her and Pam were on The Encore together and neither of them were really GREAT
Who said Global reach? :plzstop: The US didn't even care much for them. They had one Top 40 album and never charted another song after Where My Girls At.
And Total was edgy not quite as much as TLC but more than any other 90's group.
Honestly, "Kissing You" >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.........>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Any song in 702's discography
I LOOOOOVE Kissing U. But Im not sure if its better than I Still Love U. Slight edge to ISLU for me.

i'm sorry sis everything youve said just became null and void.
Kissin is better than I Still Love you. I Still Love You is ready to be skipped before the bridge.

ok now u in here just talking
Quote from: Eh... on May 06, 2023, 11:55:23 AMI was just listening to Total's 2nd album yesterday, while I do prefer their music over 702 neither group really has enough "hits" to do anything. But they both have songs we all love.
:dead: :dead: :dead: true
Verzuz is for Legends. Flat out lol they started just letting any ole body do it last year or whatever it was, but it's time to cut this shit off if they ain't bringing out the real icons. Total and 702 will definitely go down in history but let's be fuckin for real

I was about to SAY  personal taste be making the girls say anything
In the states? No they are not
Can't You See alone. If for nothing else, Biggie's verse
Wasnt gonna say anything, sis just talking. The only 702 songs people know are Steelo and Where My Girls At. I Still Love You is a cult classic and the average person probably knows they like the song, but can't name who sings it.
I forgot about this.I haven't heard it in years if not decades
