Nevermind, the fictional character of Claire Huxtable. What do you think of the implications of what KeKe implied?
That a black person pretty much has to articulate themselves in a certain way in their speech, mannerisms to be considered "REAL"?
I didn't get her saying that Claire was uppity because she was articulate but more of because of how she carried herself and never became too heated etc.
I've met Black people who are pro-black af and never saw The Players Club before .
Fnnfnfnf
Like it was literally like  when I'd throw out a reference .
It shocked the hell outta me but I put them on. Fnnfnf
But still respected that they come from a different place . And that's ok.
Hood/"Urban" is just one version of Blackness.
And reducing Blackness to just that one version and using it as some sort of barometer of "realness" is not right at all.
It's kinda offensive . And this is coming from someone who's actually from the hood and doesn't hide it.
That's why I love Tyler Perry. If you look closely at his work - especially his movies ... he makes sure all types of Black peoples are represented .
The loud ratchet gorl, the CEO, the lawyer , the bougie ghetto fabulous gorl who don't know she's ghetto ...
Fnjfjfnfnfnfnf
People zoom in on the loudest characters of course but i think he does a good job of mixing it up. It's very realistic in that sense .
We are all still Black. Just with different experiences and backgrounds

One of the comments she made in the video was "Just say what you saying" so it seemed like she had a problem with the character's verbose language.

LOVE me some keke but she sounded stupid here vvvvvv
however, she talking about a fictional character tho so i'm not taking it too seriously

i think 'moon was simply using what keke said to launch a larger conversation luv.
that was obvious to me at least - with him removing claire huxtable from the equation and posing his question

This is crazy ddddd
It was a joke that is now being taken way out of context

It wasn't really directed towards him so I should've made that clear. It's been this whole DISCOURSE on social media for the last day or so and it's annoying
Yea this isn't about Claire being articulate, Keke is very articulate herself. I think it's more about her voice and mannerisms and just the context of the show with her being upper middle class and a lawyer. She just had a bourgeois type personality that Keke felt was fake and it technically was

'Moon included "mannerisms " guys.
I think the context of him using "articulate" in this topic was not limited to words alone
but more so to include the language of their body, aura, etc.
the way someone presents themselves in general.

i just think keke take on the character was dumb cuz bougie or uppity is more about an ATTITUDE than mannerisms & tone of voice. and claire didn't posses that attitude or characteristic.
and i think it's a big discourse because the character seems so close to who phylisha rashad is in real life, so come ppl are taking it as shade although i don't think keke meant it that way
but hey, if the barbs can YAP away all day abt nothing, let these gors too
:letsmessfag:
She was just talking and saying it all in jest but still there was some truth to it. The character was bougie.. The girls are taking it too far as usual
I never liked the Cosby show so I don't care. I mean, even if she was talking about aunt Viv (from a show I actually like) I still would find the truth in the joke. Not sure why the girls are butthurt over this.
Phylicia Rashaad is a Cosby supporting fool
the cosby show was definitely a snooze.
the wayans bros >>>>
now thats quality TV :traciandchelle:
I wonder if another character was referenced and someone referred to them as a "ghetto" in a negative connotation would the tolerance be the same?
i feel like some ppl are calling anything bougie that ain't lip smack! neck roll ! and THAT'S the problem
claire was regal. she def wasn't bougie
Love Keke
She was just having fun and talking shit.
I take it as a compliment
Next question

Claire was a lawyer, and lawyers are known for using their words. Of course her character would be verbose and would debate her point as if she were in a court room. It made sense for her to be that way.
