I'm so proud of him.
I always point out his mess so lemme give him his kudos too.
He finally realizes that, regardless of what's what in the content , ultimately this is a platform and a show we have that we cannot find anywhere else to celebrate us on such a large scale .
This is what I've been saying for years. To see others getting to that point makes me so happy - especially those with large, influential platforms.
He starts the video off with saying this
Funkys not perfect (none of us are for that matter) but he's clearly growing
HE TRYNA GET A SEAT AT THAT BET TABLE :dead:
Or maybe he's just growing
I don't know his intent cuz he and I weren't chatting on the phone last night
So I can only go by what he's saying and it seems genuine
He's not only stopping the BET hate but I he's also watching how he uses to the word "ghetto"
He's beginning to check what could be unintentional and subconscious anti-blackness .
And , if his goal is to get a seat at the BET table that to me would only speak more to how much he sees value in the platform .
I'm proud of king. Handsome self
if that's the celebration of black culture then count me tf out.
it was a ghetto embarrassment.
hopefully Tyler can clean it up.

the BET soul train awards are more tame, grown n sexy
but the BET Awards is always geared to a younger audience.
always. which means, its gonna be more turnt tf up.
but there's literally an award show for everyone on the network
this whole "is this what black culture is? :uhh: " thing that people do is a little dramatic to me
and (intentionally) intellectually lazy
not lazy, just true.
don't bill the BET awards as the "culture's biggest night" and present the audience with a ghetto mess.
"hood culture" is not black culture.

black culture is multifaceted hun and yes hip hop culture is part of that
subcultures are kinda a thing.
and yes hip hop culture is turnt tf up and ratchet sometimes.
you're labeling it as "hood culture" but i dont think thats what id call it
and even if i did call it that, engaging with and embracing it doesn't mean i think black culture is limited to that one subculture.
and fuck canada

valid points, maybe I'd feel differently if there were more examples of black culture being shown but it's always hood and ratchet nonsense
like I wouldn't even call it a subculture at this point because it's become the dominant culture
Very sad
and FUCK Atlanta and Fulton County ho

hip-hop has always been super influential though
of course its dominant, it's the loudest subculture in the room
sffsfsfsfsffssddssdds
it's fun. there's energy. the music, the lingo - how it's able to easily incorporate AAVE (African-American Vernacular English) because its so un-formal and un-"classy".
of course people , even those who aren't even black and probably should just sit down somewhere, wanna join the party.
and honestly it is huge part of black culture . and one i feel is important
you stan for a woman, in ur siggy now, who very much embraces the ratchetness and the ghettoness of it all.
fssffsfsfssfsfsfsssfsffs
had it not been for hip-hop and its influence we probably wouldn't have a fas.
definietly wouldn't have had her husband around
bow down
no

Nene is a mess
it always be the most "ghetto" people calling mess "ghetto"
She is def ghetto/hood rich personified
Just like Kim - with those foreclosures and no equity in her home , but frontin like she's loaded
Glad funky is beginning to clock himself on it a bit - being careful with his usage of words
Cuz he was giving that same tea. Evictions, sniffing coke off the floor , taking pics of gucci shopping bags
Mfhfhdhdhhfnf
And having the nerve to call people ghetto
I'm proud of king.

Nene is the queen of protection. When she called Kandi fat and tried to play sheree's body meanwhile she's been getting surgery for decades trying to get a body close to hers

Yeah the urban culture is the dominant culture. It would be ideal if we could have more balanced representation that were mainstream. It's exhausting.
