The singer formerly known as Charice was internationally known to be a singing sensation, she was on Oprah, sang with Celine and had a role on Glee. She had the potential to make it very big or at least stay active as a big touring artist (cause people loved watching her sing live).

After coming out as lesbian and exchanging the gowns with suits, Charice came out as trans and transitioned to Jake Zyrus. The hormone therapy altered that iconic voice and range forever. This is what he sounds like now:

In an interview Jake revealed how there were 3 suicide attempts while he was still going by Charice, David Foster knew about this and Charice performed the next day after the last attempt as if everything was fine. Super sad to watch the concert now, knowing what had happened the day before:

So ultimately I'm glad Jake chose happiness and inner peace over the career that could've continued but it's still kind of sad that the voice is lost forever. It's just not as impressive with the singnificantly lower range and he mostly only covers songs by male artists now.
not sure he would be any more popular if he didn't transition. even when identifying as a gor, he still gave karaoke singer... granted, a talented one... but still karaoke nonetheless.

yes. But he was touring with David Foster internationally, making millions of dollars and i'm sure he could've tried more acting roles in Musical movies etc. Honestly I feel as an Asian man in music in the U.S. it's pretty difficult unless you're BTS...if he was white people would probably still be somewhat interested in his story at least.

I think they meant, who already had a career, then transitioned and was able to still be successful
She was always a karaoke singer honestly
she would be working at the Food court mall where she is rn. as a boy or a girl she didnt have the IT factor and her voice was just ok
and her version of LISTEN is terrible
It's a difference between having an amazing karaoke voice and having the charisma and star quality to make it really big. Not very many people have the latter and he/she def didn't.
Wow well it's a blessing that those iconic moments will always life on film For him. But it's definitely best he chose happiness and can still Use his voice to the best of his ability
I've always wandered what happened to her. Well, well she ruined her career from what I can see. But she's being true to herself. Well, atleast I hope. Maybe she was trying to capitalize on the movement.
