What's odd to me about Monique is that she gives ZERO grace to Oprah, who is a Black woman. She says she names, names. No Monique, you name BLACK names. You group Lionsgate together as one, but I am certain you know those men names at Lionsgate. It's very hypocritical and she loses me, even though what she is saying is right.
You can't call out Oprah as if she's a white woman. Oprah would be worth 10 billion if she were white. Oprah is older than Monique; it was harder for her. You can't expect Lil Kim to have empathy for Nicki, just like you couldn't expect a slave to be empathetic toward someone who grew up in Jim Crow. So her attacks on Oprah or Whoopi are lost to me. Naturally, their perspectives will be totally different. She should be support and teach up and coming comics instead of demanding support from older people in entertainment.
They gon have to give Shannon a damn TV deal :dead:

She actually said she appreciated Oprah calling her to ask if she wanted to appear on the show with her brother but she declined. Oprah asked her if she should cancel the show but Monique said to go ahead bc maybe he's changed but she didn't want to appear herself. What upset her is that Oprah made no mention of her mother going on the show.
Yeah..mother..brother..whoever
She's still pissed about it.
But thanks.
I've watched most of the clips, and the only one where I don't agree with her stance is probably the Kevin Hart mess - which is probably the one everyone agrees with after Katt dragged him - but at the end of the day, she DOES have bad rep and he ISN'T obligated to work with her. He doesn't really owe her an explanation for that tbh, his manager is messy for divulging the info but she can't make him want to work with her, anymore than Oprah and co could make her do all that international promo for Precious.
Ouch

You really have to read between the lines when listening to Monique.
She gave Oprah the green light to film the segment with her brother. Then she got mad at Oprah for having other family members on the show. Hello?!? That's how show production works. How can we make this segment as interesting and engaging as possible? You think Oprah has the time to phone Monique every step of the way when putting that segment together? Monique should be mad at her mom and whoever else went on Oprah.
Also, I don't like Kevin Hart, but I don't blame him for not wanting to work with her. And I don't blame Kevin for telling Monique what she wanted to hear over the phone, because she could've been recording him just like she did Tyler Perry!

It's too easy to take what she says and attack people because maybe we don't like them or they have done bad things in the past. That doesn't mean everybody is trying to destroy her. We've all been mistreated and the entertainment industry is disgusting in general. What are we supposed to do with all her grievances? I mean it's cute to gossip and indulge in the mess but this isn't going to undo anything or make people work with her
Well if you watch the full interview she said,
Ppl keep asking me to get over it and stop talking about it. I will when the they make it right
She has every right to go on every show she wants to, to voice her feelings on it. She was slighted and it has been proven so even more with the Taraji stuff .
Also the fact that Lee Daniel's said he was wrong and he fucked up and apologized also proves her right
I mean, you're right. She can do that
But also I'm not obligated to support a damns festivus every time I see her. Since when is it normal to demand apologies and compensation for every slight or wrong someone has done to us? Adulthood brings more wisdom than that. I never said I don't believe her, but Monique isn't really trying to get better treatment for all black women, just better treatment for herself. She goes after specific individuals for specific things.
And that's fine but it's petty and exhausting. If you fuck over me, I don't want anything else to do with you.
They blackballed her so she is dragging them through the mud as revenge. They cost her millions. What don't you get?

Well, that is just your opinion that you should not demand apologies or compensation. IF she just played the game when Netflix said NO that would go against what she is about and she would have missed out on a payday.
Also of COURSE she is trying to get fair treatment for herself. That is the MAIN point right?
What she is doing, is bring to light the unfair treatment of black actresses in the industry. By speaking up she is also letting other black girls know that it IS ok to speak up and not remain silent when you're getting fair treatment.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease, as they say.
