I know it's been posted before, but it was actually a new acoustic remix which they used the original Brandy vocals for.
This is mixed with the actual Darkchild instrumental

Gotta say Monica did add something to the song, but it's still nice to hear the original take
Monica simply added attitude and argument to the track.
It was very needed and necessary for this song to hit like it did and still does.
I feel like she actually pushed Brandy to come out swinging with her vocals, especially towards the end.

yea mons definitely elevated the track. a perfect team effort
Ok Monica for taking it up in the second verse.
this shoulda been the single tbh
perfection
I do not like the single version. I can't even listen to it all the way through.
I just love the back and forth, tit for tat dragging each other. It's more realistic. :scrumptious:

This is really smooth :flamebroiled:
It's actually crazy what Monica brought to the record though. Especially, at the time with them both being so hot and all the supposed rumors.
I know when they cut that final mix they knew they had something special.
But who woulda thought, #1 for 13 weeks..and a Grammy...ack!
:stressed:
Oof! The solo vocals sound way better on that acoustic version
Monica def brought something to the final beat and official version
It's weird how she's holding back for most of the song but randomly goes in on some of the ad-libs. It's definitely sounding like demo vocals
Lashawn was such a treasure. He brought the best out of both of them on that song vocally!
I think if either of them did the song on their own - it wouldn't HIT the way it does.

this is giving demo
Mo definitely elevated the song
Thanks for sharing this version. Let's not give Monica too much credit now.. someone did lay down all the foundation for her to walk on.

i WOULD love to hear an all mons version tho. the way she would somehow break out into a fist fight with herself vcccccccc
Yeah the dynamic and duo is what makes it really POP imo
The contrast in their voices >>>

THIS.
And this solo version has different choices/runs, even in brandy's part. Her parts do not sound like the final song.
The song was meant for them both.
tbh my favorite parts to sing are Mon's runs like "Had about enough?" and "He's mine, he's mine, he's mine, he's miiiine" :flamebroiled:
bcccvvvccc yea here are the funnest to sing. cuz bran's verses were like she was trynna convince somebody, mons versus was letting the gors know what tf was what
you can say what u wanna say :nowgorl:
what we have u cant take :welllol:
from the truth u can't escape :lopsided:
i can tell the real from the fake :letsmessfag:
"UUUUMMMM SO SAAWWWW-REEEY-HEEEEY!"
Why did she yell at Brandy like that? :plzstop: :kii: :dead:
