I'd argue that it was SOS for Rihanna. Umbrella really catapulted her but SOS showed that she had potential to make multiple hits.

Yeah Rih would be back in Barbados if she hadn't made that shift with GGGB

I heard Interscope was about to drop Gaga until she had success with Poker Face. I remember looking for her CD in early 2009 and none of the stores had it. :dead:

Because "Infatuation" flopped AWFULLY hard. Then "Dirrty" FLOPPED really hard. "Beautiful" swooped in and saved her era.

xtine was one of THEE topics during that era. even if she did flop (i dont recall dirrty flopping at all) she still wasnt disappearing anytime soon.

Well, I guess I'm being a lil harsh. The U.S. was smart and said "No thank you" when she released it. But it performed alright outside the U.S.

Mary was always good. But I feel like Family Affair helped her crossover. Then the following album under performed but she resurrected with Breakthrough.

"I Should Have Cheated" and "Love" definitely saved Keyshia. Her reality show was a help as well.

Her first single mess flopped down(even with Kanye on it)
Second single was tanked also

they were definitely throwing mess at the wall and giving her chances to pop

and i loved the first two singles the most

They were on their way to being one hit wonders lol. No other singles really generated any chart success. Their debut barely went platinum. Bills and The Writing's On The Wall turned things around for them.

I believe What Have You Done For Me Lately was the song for Janet. That was the first single from Control and it smashed.

Oops! I got the singles mixed up for some reason but yes the Control era made Janet a force to be reckon with.

Oh they were going somewhere straight into being One Hit Wonders and that's ok because they quickly turned things around and made a name for themselves.

!!

I always thought Control was the first single too but yea. They knew they had something with that album, single-after-single!
