so glad he's bringing attention to this documentary that was recently released
i thought it was just me when i watched last week but it was extremely eye opening
i was too young and naive to truly understand the ins and outs of what was going on during that time, in real time
and i remember everyone thinking Kanye's "Bush doesn't care about Black people" tidbit seeming so random. i mean we knew there was some truth to it but the general thought was "where tf did that come from?"

PLUS back then we were only being fed what mass media fed to us, as social media wasn't popular. so you'd literally have to make time to SIT in front of a TV and watch.
but watching this doc i def understand what led up to Kanye feeling so compelled to make such a bold statement.
honestly i would have done the same thing given the space and got damn opportunity, knowing what was going on.
and would have said now what tf is up  and just dealt with the consequences, backlash and MESS.
WARNING: some scenes/stories in the doc are very frustrating to watch - funky had to turn it off at a certain point. but i agree with this being a must-see doc and sharing it. it's still very educational and if nothing else, a reminder to make sure we're in the best positions possible as a people and as individuals.
many of these Black people suffered and died just cuz they were poor. and that to me is the most heartbreaking and frustrating...and infuriating thing.

boy. funky is not in the doc he's just talking about it on his platform.
and a lot of people had to stand on their roofs in order to avoid drowning after the flooding from Katrina - as they waited to be rescued
