His solo career should've taken off.
Real talk. Especially when he said sometimes she is overproduced.
Just SING, Queen
It's interesting how some singers from groups just can't get a big solo career going. He's clearly a great vocalist and songwriter and he's even clearly a handsome guy and still ppl only want to see or hear him in his group

It be like that sometimes. Some groups just work better together ie SWV, En Vogue, TLC, Spice Girls, 112, Dru Hill, etc.

I was thinking about how Coko, Meelah, Slim, Dawn Robinson etc all tried to go solo but never really popped off. Sisqo was huge for 1 era even he had to go back

Slim had a little shine with So Fly but yeah he's better in and with 112.
I think with Sisqó it was the case of too much all at once and he couldn't maintain it. He had the music, the movies, the doll, the developing TV show, etc. His second album was a bit of a dud too in term of overall commercial performance.
Coko, great singer but never really had much of personality to begin with especially during SWV heyday. She was never personable and it never translated well in interviews. I'm loving this new era of Coko with her blog channel.
Meelah, another great singer but she had no star quality outside of 702 and that's the truth.
Dawn, dope great singer as well but by the time she decided to go solo the music she was making didn't resonate with fans that always seen her as En Vogue member. En Vogue carries a certain aesthetic to them and unfortunately it hurt Dawn's shot at a solo career.
He's always shown Brandy love.

sisqo kinda became the poster child for "leaving to be a solo star" cuz he was SO different, so unique.
u kinda had no choice but to pay attention to him.
even if it was just one era, he had a HUGE one era. Consuela teas
i enjoy a lot of R.L's tunes but i can see how he kinda got lost in the shuffle of other male R&B acts. yeah he was handsome and can sing but a lot of them were and could
i think "Next" actually had a better brand identity overall. like they were pumping out relatively unique tunes and had a sound. "Too Close" and "Wifey" were so distinctive
Over fckn produced *cough* full moon *cough*
:ummwhat:
Well
I initially thought "what about us" was way overproduced (and it kinda is) but I just wasn't ready for it lol
Full moon as a whole is just right. It's still futuristic and trendsetting to this day. Just thinking about how I felt when listening to that album for the first time is still magical
i thought we all agreed we'd skip over that mess he said in the middle of his worship session
from what i recall

Well it's 2 different producers.
Darkchild's tea tends to be more in your face and more aggressive.
Mike City's mess is more on the mellow side of things. Under the radar vibe
Overproduced doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, imo.
Rodney went crazy with the futuristic sound on FM, and maybe overproduced it by some peoples standards, but it worked.

I think they meant in terms of her actual vocals not the production behind it. Her vocals on Full Moon were clean and forward even with all the production.
Most recently, she's been using a lot of effects on her voice and overlaying with production that isn't as good as Rodney's.
I hope she see's this video from him.
I agree with over produced (at times)... it's been more aggressive in her most recent work over the years and I believe it could be a budget thing. Them top-notch engineers knew how to mix it better
Full moon is over produced and overrated. There, I said it

Lmaooooooo 😭
I agree with overrated b/c I was going to write in here are we finally ready to have the real convo that "Afrodisiac" is the album that everyone thinks "Full Moon" is
:ohwow:
Oh we'll have a conversation
What other artist gets this type of praise? I'm so happy that Brandy is getting her flowers . I've been a Brandy fan for so long I remember when people used to say she couldn't sing 🤣🤣🤣🤣 now look whos everyone's favorite . I can't wait until she gets this walk of fame star and Grammy recognition.
Antonio Dixon just praised her and "When You Touch Me" on R&B Money too
He was clearly talking about her voice so I would imagine he was referring to her voice being overproduced. I don't think her vocals were over produced on Full Moon, but them tracks def were
I don't agree that FM was overproduced.
The production was maximalist, yes. But not overdone.
It worked for the album.
