Brandy has always been a stylistic vocalist and a lot of what people are commenting on is intentional, whether it's the tone, layering, or production. It may not be everyone's preference, but that doesn't mean something is "wrong."
Also, this is Kehlani's project. The song and vocals went through multiple levels of approval, so clearly it fits the direction they were going for. It's okay if it's not for you, but that doesn't mean it needs to be "fixed" or that she's not able to do something different.

I think the song is good and I'll definitely replay . Definitely the best feature I've heard from her in some years . However , as mentioned above, Brandy's voice has absolutely changed and I don't think she can quite sing how she used to. This is not being a hater or being overly critical but just technically if you really pay attention, the vocals haven't been all the way on point in quite some time . She lipped the entire tour and did not sing one note live ,The star spangled was lipped and heavy effects on her voice etc

I absolutely love that its not background harmony heavy! And the lead vocals are HEARD and shining :flamebroiled: I just new this was going to be a harmony overload but they shocked my ass.
I wasn't wowed was hoping for some belts at the end, BUT she sounded good still. She is very laidback on features, and it's been that way for years, either she's doing bgvs and adlibs or a very subdued vocal. Very few are there times she really goes there and I agree her voice has changed which we seem to be due for every few years, her voice literally sounds different on each album. I'm hopeful she may link up with Jimmy & Terry and create their own world and sound and do what works for her now without any boundaries or limitations. The general public loves it though! ^_^

Thank God for iTunes Lyrics option when listening... The backgrounds are so faint and the leads are so mumbled it's hard to hear when you're listening at a casual listening volume. Overall it's still a good track and a nice feature and better than I thought it would be. I hope that Brandy works with these producers again in a more collaborative way. I loved hearing Kehlani talk about the recording process with Zane on Apple also and how Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis really worked her hard to bring the best out of her and the song to keep up with what Brandy sent back. I need them to work Brandy into some great material and throw in a Janet Jackson feature while we are in there for good measure.
I like the song but sad that brandy sounds so unclear in comparison to kehlani on the track. This definitely could've been better in that regard, while still great. Kehlani really sounds like full moon brandy in parts.

It's growing on me, I needed to give it a couple of listens. I really love it now. Their voices work really well together and this sounds a lot better than the Folded remix (that just sounded disjointed and rushed, not the group project I expected).
