Thoughts?
He does have a point. The same goes for artist of other genres. Make an album that relates to your life experiences as your own age.
Damn he spoke.
they might drag him for this but i get his point
there's a balance. i remember older people were trying Toni for going "young" with The Heat ..when she departed from the ballad-laden albums that preceded it . accusing her of tryne be "hip!"
but i was like 15 thinkin this grown ass woman was singin my life story. :plzstop: that album and specifically the single He Wasn't Man Enough is actually what drew me in as a lifelong stan
like jay said, she was telling a story and it still had some sense of maturity to it. even though she was riding Darkchild beats and ultimately competing with what was most "fresh" on the scene at the time.
overall, i think people can just sense when ur just chasing a trend and givin the gorls "im not a REGULAR auntie...im a COOL auntie :woohoo: "
as opposed to when ur actually delivering something that u feel from ur gut is ur chosen self expression at the time.

Toni was still "young" though. It was just different style for her
spoke nothing but facts

yeah she wasn't a senior citizen but people her age were def criticizing her
in society a woman in her 30s is generally not "young" anymore. We know how harsh they can be with unreasonable expectations . Especially back then.
Too much skin! Look like a try hard hoe!
I remember some of her older fans being low/high key annoyed with the directions she was taking
Especially with the More Than A Woman era
Whatever toni touched never seemed forced to me. Just a different version of her tea.
she didn't feel like my "peer" but she didn't feel like my auntie either. Even tho they're the same age. and most importantly it never felt like she was TRYING to be my peer. it was a grown woman havin fun, lettin niggas HAVE it and being sexy.
He was 42 when he released Niggas in Paris...

and it smashed
I'm not saying it didn't. The point is, stop trying to move the goal post now that he's at an age where he's not marketable to make that type of music. He clearly has an agenda against Drake.
