When we watch a film we are watching images of people doing tasks in the pursuit of a goal to change a circumstance and it stands to reason that if the threshold of empathy in Whites is higher when watching non-Whites perform certain tasks because of the Racial Empathy Gap, then if the Whites are watching a Black film such a high empathy threshold would make the suspension of disbelief difficult and attenuate the pleasure of their viewing experience.
To sum it up, if you're a consumer of good movies with/by Black folk, buy/rent indie black films as well as Hollywood's offerings if you want them to continue to make films that Hollywood overlooks (don't bootleg).

Both films are contenders for Oscar nominations. Cory did an amazing job in Brotherly Love and the young man in Dope was great as well. It definitely reminded me of The Wood and the Stacey inclusion worked.

None of these films sucked and yes they had low budgets but they still had a kind of quality that made them entertaining and gut-wretching.
I watched Brotherly Love yesterday.First time I didn't fall asleep on a movie in a while.The acting was great minus Macy Gray and Quincy Brown, who were still decent in their roles.Great twist and the Philly music they used >>>
