Has this been substantiated?
I've heard a lot of conspiracy theories relating to Whitney but is there anything concrete that he did wrong?
A lot of Black artists owe their careers to him

He did Phyllis Hyman wrong. He tried to mold her into a pop act and she wasn't having it. Once he discovered a young impressionable Whitney and knew he could mold her into a pop act/star, he gave Phyllis the boot.

Talk to your elders they will have plenty of stories about Clive. Clive's demon ways are extensive and were detrimental to Black people in the industry. He is the reason Al Sharpton was on Whitney's head back in the day bc he wouldn't allow her to have Black people on her team and deal with Black promoters.
He dismantled Black record labels, black radio, and so much more Clive been around forever and plenty of stories about his ways even going back to the 70s. A deal he did wiped out Staxx Records which was a Black label with the Staples singers, Otis Redding).
All these Black artists he signed would have did well without him bc they had the talent. Ask your elders or look up what Phyllis Hyman and Angela Bofill went through with him.

He liked Black artists for clout but didnt actually like Black ppl. He was running amok dismantling Black independence in the industry which was at an all time high in the 70s. It is a laundry reason his death isn't getting an awe that sucks amongst Black ppl.
Monica would have been screwed if she let him make her another Whitney bc she likes to be around her ppl and Clive would have mad her team be Black free.
Nippy caught so much shyt bc of Clive. He didn't won't her around Black ppl at all. Queen got booed at Soul Train awards bc of it.

im indifferent with Clive. yes he brought us a lot of great Black musical acts. am mean being responsible for getting Whitney to the gorls ALONE is a tea
but he wasn't doing charity work for the Black community. he was a strategic businessman who saw what could work, made very calculated decisions and executed
the UPN of the music industry.
def appreciate the teas but i'm not feeling indebted to him

Yeah I am not feeling ppl crediting him for Black talent. We are the most talented ppl period so he didn't have nothing to do with any of their talent. He saw Barry and the rest of Black indie labels make a killing/huge success with our artists so he wanted to jump on the wave.
Him partying while Nippy laid up stairs is forever callous. She was loyal to him and he couldn't even give the same to her in death.
I don't see any one giving him credit for anyone's talent, however he is responsible for getting a lot of that talent out to the masses and making them successful.
Now he did kinda "whitewash" Whitney so that she could crossover to white audiences, but it also resulted in her biggest hits
I feel like obviously he's not perfect but he's not the devil either
