I feel a lot of us don't like to admit and acknowledge the kind of country we live in. Because doing so takes us out of realm of comfort and into a place of vulnerability that we are so unwilling and psychologically unprepared to visit.
It's not so much about "blaming Black kids", and being judgmental or mean, it's refusal to believe that someone could genuinely be targeted simply because of the color of their skin in a post-Civil Rights movement world.
