Brandy Talks ?Moesha? 20-Year Legacy, Says a Netflix Reboot Would Be ?Awesome?
While there are 20 iconic movies turning 20 in 2016, one of our favorite shows is hitting the milestone: Moesha.
Yes, the debut sitcom starring the (at-the-time) 15-year-old singer Brandy made its premiere on January 23, 1996 and TV hasn?t been the same since ? something the Grammy Award winner is well aware of.
"I think for young black girls to grow up through her journey and through her eyes and to see a young black girl with braids in her hair, it leaves the legacy of possibility," she told Entertainment Tonight of the show?s impact on its audience.
Despite becoming a huge hit on UPN, the show came to an abrupt end after six seasons, leaving fans on a cliffhanger that was initially meant to be a season finale.
Brandy herself revealed she was ?very, very disappointed with how the show ended,? something she would ?love to resolve? with a two-episode reboot!
"Full House is coming back, right? [A Netflix reboot] would be awesome," she said, adding, "We could do, like, two episodes or something. I'm ready to go!"

Nearly 20 years later, the ?Boy Is Mine? singer is back on TV taking center stage in BET?s new comedy, Zoe Ever After. The recent star of Broadway?s Chicago admitted it was a tough time getting back into the habit of carrying a show.
"There were a few different steps I needed to take in order to get back to the space where I could carry and hold my own on a show again," the 36-year-old said. ?I have adult nerves now and basically they don't go away. But I'm blessed enough to not allow them to cripple me.?
In addition to a Moesha reboot, Brandy is also open to the idea of a Cinderella remake, as her made-for-TV musical starring Whoopi Goldberg, Bernadette Peters, and the late Whitney Houston is turning the big 2-0 next year! In fact, Brandy would love the chance to step into Whitney?s shoes as the Fairy Godmother.
"That would be so amazing to experience being the Fairy Godmother," she said. ?I would try to channel Whitney the best way I could. But that would be a dream.?
Hopefully, the TV gods are listening, we?d love to see this all happen. After all, as Whitney sang, ?It?s possible.?

This would be cool
that would be the ultimate slayage.
brandy playing cinderella... then playing the fairy god mother...
then slaying the Queen role in her 50s
:dead:
2 episodes? That would be cool
awwww
bran is such apart of pop history and culture
:stressed:
2 one-hour long episodes
honestly, they should def do this
considering how the show ended
Shar need to lose 60lbs first btw
Shar SPEAKS:
?I think if we could figure out a very intelligent, beautiful way to kinda close out that chapter, I would be totally down to do it ? it?s just kinda bittersweet though because a lot of our cast members are no longer here ? To me, that?s the biggest thing,? she said.

However, she added, ?if it could be done in a beautiful way that doesn?t make me cry, number one, [and] celebrates those people, then I?d be totally down to do it.?
As for a way to bring the show back, she speculated the show could return from the season-turned-series finale pregnancy cliffhanger by making titular character Moesha pregnant with boyfriend Hakeem?s kid.
?Now that I?m thinking about it, that can be a kinda cool way to comeback and do a reboot? meeting her and Hakeem?s kid,? she said.
that would slay, if done right.
I'm here for it!!! I hope that chemistry between the ladies is still there.
So andell has passed, hakeem has passed, who else? Miles was in jail at one point but is he still? They always talking bout so many people gone. Really its just hakeem. Andell was already gone and on the parkers

Hakeem and Andell were both significant characters though. That's why unless they found a good way to address their absence, they shouldn't try too hard to recreate the dynamic of the original show.
right

yeah it was pretty bad
they can do it respectfully.
cause kim left the show, and the series was still running.
if anything, i enjoyed bran/shar's chemistry a lot during their final years.
so with Kim back on Moesha, and with a new dynamic... adult dynamic, they can try to respectfully do something.
I always envision Moesha going the Being Mary Jane route.

An adult Moesha?

Bring back Q to the mix while they at it
I would love to see these girls together again.
So now she's all for Moesha?

Yes. At least for a closure piece.
i could already see them doing a 3-part episode.
And then fans wanting more.

or not
Netflix could
Netflix would be great, but it's more likely BET would pick up this idea before them.
Naw

For 2 episodes, to give it a proper ending. It's not like she's doing a whole series again. And honestly i only think she's against stuff because she identifies it with either where she was emotionally/mentally or didn't like the process. Ive come to see that with brandy. She was going thru that eating disorder, had issues with cast members so when asked about it "no, I'm good. Glad it's over". She wanted Tim's song to be the lead on afrodisiac so it's "god, i hate taol". She was going thru whatever she was going thru behind the scenes of human, so she doesn't feel connected to the music and doesn't even mention the album. I think Brandy is or has been one of those girls that need to get over something or get over herself before She's good. She seems to be in a better place now. She's made up with both dee and kim (irl), so now i think she's fine with revisiting it

Brandy should've gotten that role IMO
That would be dope. Im here for it. Maybe Mara Brock can write it.
Here for it
But it would be weird without 'Keem and 'Dell
Let the SLAYAGE take place!
:letsmessfag:
It would be great if they could do some kind of movie, or episode series grand finale for the show. Brandy has never had a happy ending for any of her on-going acting roles...Moesha ended on a cliffhanger and The Game was a horrible send off...I think giving closure to that would be a great idea.

Didn't look at it that way, so true!!
I'm kind of sick of her being so quick to write stuff off so abruptly though. :mmywheresddy:
ack! am here for BOTH.
And Keke should play Cinderella as she did on Broadway two years ago.

Wow, two more episodes of Moesha? That would be nice! I hated how it ended. Lol
Hakeem and Andell were both big parts of the show to me.
Andell was already gone tho

This!!! And if it's only a 2 episode arc to just close the chapter. I don't see the issue. The show still has a cult following
And a Cinderella remake with Keke Palmer as Cin and Bran as the Fair GMom. Would be dope! Even as a live TV adaption. Like the wiz, sound of music etc...
Its a bad idea to touch it again i know its thetime of nostalgia but please
It's the best idea I've seen in a while. It would certainly create hype and I think even moreso than Full House did. She should be actively trying to make that happen, and getting all 6 seasons on Netflix.
