Title: So uncomfortable.
Post by: Herb. on April 09, 2016, 12:54:05 PM
Yesterday two of my coworkers were going back and forth with each other. One is really light skin with green eyes and the other is a deep dark complexion, they were calling each other mellow yellow, ghost, Don Cheadle, doodoo Black, etc. etc.

It's like this lil ongoing joke they have but it makes me cringe.

I know its all in fun and games and I get it. It's nothing but love. But for some reason it was just so uncomfortable listening to them. Every time they do it  :uhh: :uhh:

And there's other dark skinned people around besides the one he's playing with. Personally I was bit offended and there's also a dark skinned woman in close proximity, listening to this exchange. (The one who ALWAYS talks about her mixed child with curly hair  :plzstop: :dead: :dead: :dead: :dead: who is clearly insecure with her own complexion/genetics. )

It was definitely one of those moments that should be kept outside of the office. The South is no joke when it comes to all this white/black dark/light mess. It is so deep rooted :plzstop: Even in their playfulness I could still feel an underlying tension.

well their banter is rooted in ignorance a bit but the courage to deal with it head on is commendable better they get it out than secretly treat each other as such and harbor negative emotions

trust whatever they were doing is alot healthier than the alternatives
