Title: Ancestry DNA
Post by: IJ23 on April 10, 2016, 09:21:30 PM
I ordered my kit last night and am waiting for it to come in the mail...

After I get my results, what else should I do with it to learn more? I'm interested in the cousin match, but would it be better if a parent has their DNA tested as well?

I've been watching videos for the past few months about this. Its so interesting to be able to know where we come from.

if this is a real person  ... :udontlookok:

My advice will be to do research, ask your family for as much info as possible, names locations etc.
So once you get your results you will have a good base.

Biggest thing: Make GOOD use of the DNA cousin matches.
It's one thing to draw conclusions on evidence, but there may be a relative you match with who actually has DOCUMENTATION to substantiate your personal conclusions. Remember, you're just beginning , there may be cousin matches who have months or even years in the game of genealogy.

I shared that story here.
