Fans are honoring Prince?s memory by launching him to the top of the charts. Following the news Prince had died, fans swarmed iTunes to purchase his music. Hours after it was reported police found the legendary singer unresponsive at his home in Paisley Park, Prince dominated the iTunes Top Songs and Albums chart. Earlier this week, Sturgill Simpson?s new A Sailor?s Guide to Earth was poised to top the Billboard 200 chart, but Prince will now easily replace him at the top. According to Hits Daily Double, The Very Best of Prince will be No. 1 on both the sales and sales-plus-streaming charts. Interestingly, Prince removed his entire catalogue off major streaming services like Spotify and plopped it onto Jay Z?s Tidal because of his stance on the current digital sales culture. Prince told Ebony once ?There?s a lot of laziness out there,? referring to streaming options that refer listeners to a similar artist. ?They have to do so much, so a lot of times it?s just a program. It?s an algorithm. I didn?t want to be a part of that,? he said. ?Technology is getting all of humanity to the point where we?re gonna be able to dial up our own experience here. So I may have a version of it, and Jay Z may have a version of it, and Kendrick Lamar may have a version of it. There isn?t gonna be one size fits all. You could see that with hip-hop, really. They didn?t say ?courtesy of,? they just jumped on people?s records when they felt like it. You?re talking about grown men asking another grown man permission to sing. So yeah, there is no perfect.? The Very Best of Prince is predicted to sell 85-100K. 1984?s Purple Rain will finish the week with more than 50K. And in just 24 hours, Prince track sales for the week could be 900k+.

I'm sure streaming is included.
He's looking to occupy both the #1 and #2 spots on Billboard 200 though in less than a day though.

His mess is so hard to buy, but I know Tidal has some exclusive mess owt. Not sure how much streaming plays a factor.
