Another thing to remember is that the "Middle East" is extremely broad and includes parts of Africa. In your case, much of your ancestry points towards the more northern parts of Africa. Which are included in what is considered to be the Middle East.
This is the reason many Ethiopians , Somalians , etc. return these results.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_East
That would make more sense but at the same time my dad is mixed with Yemeni. So this kinda confirms it but I didn't expect 55%. At most I expected 15% tbh. Either he's lying about something or this includes my mom's side which I highly doubt.
Why do you think Ethiopians are so light and have soft hair?!
d
Don't be ignorant luv. I have a super dark cousin with soft hair. Like Indian soft.

That's not ignorance lol... It's common sense. You can be dark and still 45% non-African...
The reason Habeshas think I'm one of them is because I am actually close to the genetic make up of the North East African gurs
v
Again, ignorance. Ethiopians aren't typically mixed with Middle Eastern. What you don't understand is that we're Afro Asiatic.
Quote from: Herbie's Podcast on May 03, 2016, 03:30:45 PM
Don't panick too quickly GODman.
You are still Ethiopian, there are many Ethiopians that return pretty hefty Middle Eastern/North African results. I've seen it happen before.
Here's results from another Ethiopian.
This is where your research will come into play. But the Middle East/North Africa are definitely part of Ethiopian roots. This is why I learned NOT to take everything at face value, but to research to make sense of what seems senseless or weird.
You have to remember that it's tracking your DEEP ancestral roots. Hundreds of years.
If anything you can definitely say you are a true Ethiopian gal. I hope you dig into the relation between Ethiopians and these clusters. This is where it can get really interesting.

You just love rambling without a clue in the world :kii:
News flash: Ethiopians don't have similar phenotype or culture to Middle Easterns. You need to meet more people because you keep assuming that Ethiopians are light skin with soft hair which is false. Most Ethiopians have brown skin.
?We found that some Ethiopians have 40-50% of their genome closer to the genomes of populations outside of Africa, while the remaining half of their genome is closer to populations within the African continent,? said Dr Toomas Kivisild of the University of Cambridge, a co-author on the study.
?We calculated genetic distances and found that these non-African regions of the genome are closest to populations in Egypt, Israel and Syria, rather than to the neighbouring Yemeni and Arabs?.http://www.sci-news.com/genetics/article00414.html
This obviously doesn't apply to me because that 55% is mainly on Yemen and Saudi Arabia, not Israel or Syria.

Habesha look and culture is much closer to Middle Eastern culture than any other Non-Maghreb African countries.
The result you posted, by whom is it?
And I meet PLENTY PLENTY fckn Somalis, Ethiopians, Eritreans, Djibuteans, etc. every damn day. Am bout sick of being invited over for injerra tbh... And Ethiopians are all over Palestine and Israel as well.
:melmel:
But your quote basically confirms what I said. Ethiopians are usually, or very often just a mix of black African and Semitic.

It's not a "race".
I think that's where the confusion comes in with these labels. It's saying you have ancestry in the "Middle East". Meaning that somewhere within this enormously vast area, you have roots. It's not saying you are "Middle Eastern". I think when we hear or see that term, we often see someone with a turban on their heads or something. It's the first image that pops into our heads, especially as Americans.
But this Middle East area is right next to Africa, but further up in Africa. So people who have more NE African roots will get a heaping of it.
