Title: Would you say a cap is a type of hat?
Post by: SouravMay on June 09, 2016, 09:21:37 AM
Am picking my brain right now. To me everything you wear on your head is a type of hat. Including caps.

Or can you split all head wear into either types of hats and types of caps.

I'm really thinking hard atm lol to me the word "hat" feels much broader than cap.

Thanks for your perspectives and opinions!

!!!!!

Yeah I feel like basically any and every kind of head wear is some sort of hat. To me a base cap would still be a type of hat.

I would call hat anything that covers the side and top of your head.

I wouldnt call a visor a hat, and I wouldnt call a small yamaka a hat.

But then again, if I were somewhere where it was expected to remove all hats........ then they'd both be hats f

I guess "Hat" is like the Class, and "Kufi" "Scully" "Fidora" "Cap" are Orders

Yeah, you couldn't pull a "Oh it's a kippa, technically not a hat"... "Hat" really means anything worn on top of your head.

Caps are types of hats. But not everything that you put on your head is a hat, (i.e. visors, scarves, veils, etc.)

A visor does give hat tease though.

Scarf or veil not so much. But a turban is still hat-ish to me.
